Orlando Cepeda bat with no notice to a makeover?

Here is the bat as it appeared auctioned by Grey Flannel:
The Hobby's premier auction site for game-worn jerseys, graded cards, championship rings, and Hall of Fame autographs.

Here is the bat for sale, with a new appearance for sale:

The description does not list that the bat has been restored.

What are we supposed to be looking at. In both listing's they say the handle has been repaired. If its about the knob it maybe because of the light or angle.

Looks like 'Big Stick' was touched up, plus the tape ring in the middle of the bat was added?

It has had the ring painted back on and the lettering touched up. Would be nice to have that listed in the description.

I've sent this link and an email to John Taube asking him to comment on the bat on his site and the GFA bat which sure looks to be the same bat.

John as most of you know has been a dealer of bats for many years and he has a great rep in the hobby.

I know Taube is a reputable dealer, Im thinking he just forgot to mention the restoration. I have purchased many bats from him, and have never had any problems. I check his site daily, he gets a lot of nice quality items.

I received the following response from John today.

                  ************************************************** *****
                  David,

The PSA/DNA LOA that accompanied the bat has been revised to include
the touch ups. The orinal LOA with the before photos is also included.
If you need to see before pictures let me know.

                  Regards,
                  John

Re: Orlando Cepeda bat with no notice to a makeover?

Just to add more clarification regarding this Cepeda bat. John Taube has indicated that the before and after photos are included with the PSA/DNA LOA. All details regarding the ring restoration and touch up of the barrel brand are in the new LOA.

Therefore restoration was disclosed via the before and after images and the new LOA will include all details.

                    Hope this clears up concerns.
