How would I go about getting this pic, without the watermarks?

I registered with getty, and myabe I am doing something wrong...but it said this photo would cost me $670.00  I've never purchased from them before so I very well may be doing something wrong.

Is there a less expensive way to obtain this particular photo from them? Has anyone bought photos from getty in the past?

I just need one copy of this picture (actual glossy photo), 8x10 to frame and hang.

Thanks,
Jay

Any advice? Don't mean to bump so soon but would like to get something started today in the way of getting this photo.

Hi,

You can get a low resolution version via e-mail from Getty for $49. Still a lot but better than your first quote. When you click on the picture, click on the prices tab and in the drop downs you should see the low res option.

Thanks,

Tom

I've always heard about the low-resolution pics for $49, but would anybody have an example of one of the low-res pics from getty to see how big they are?

Kyle,

Here is one. I blew it up to 8X10 to display it next to the jersey. It is grainy but does the trick.

sorry, forgot to add that the file they send you is 55KB.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks for the example, but they look like basically the same size as the ones with the watermark, so why spend $49 on them? Wouldn't it be easier to just photoshop the watermark out, like this?: (only took me 10 minutes to complete)

I agree with you. I had no idea that's how it was done. And to boot...I have NO idea how to use photoshop lol I am truly lacking in the technical area. ;)

Yes, it's filthy. I saw this pic on Getty. Must have been earlier in the game. I think there are 3 pics total...maybe 4. The one of him sliding inot to home is the absolute best.

But thank you for this one as well. I need to save it, then forward it off to my wife's cousin. She prints out some really nice photos.

Try doing a google search and hit for images. Alot of the pictures that are on Getty have also been posted in other places on the internet (newspaper, photographer's site, etc.). Once you find a link that has the picture, you should be able to save the file from that page if its not protected. The good thing is that most of these do not have watermarks on them.

The resolution will only be as good as it was posted on the website, so be sure to look around and it may be on more than one site.

Hope this helps, and of course be sure to consult your very own copyright lawyer before any blah blah blah. :)

Go to daylife.com and search their photos, they have a lot of getty images without watermarks from the last year or so.
