Hello Mike & Jim,
There is a nice Gary Carter C243 model gamer w/ great provenance on ebay now. Did Gary order C243's in his career particularly in his last years in the majors?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi David --
A review of Gary Carter's H & B factory shipping records from his earliest order in April, 1973 to his final order on September 12, 1992 shows the following:
Carter's first order of Model C243 bats was shipped on 4/12/83, and consisted of six 33 inch / 33 ounce and six 34 inch / 33 ounce Flame Treated bats. No additional orders of Model C243 bats are documented for "Lights" until his final year with Montreal, which was also his final year in the Major Leagues -- 1992. Nine orders of C243 bats, totaling 90 bats were shipped to Carter between March 31 and September 14 of that year. All were 34 1/2 inches / 32 ounces with Flame Treated Finish with the exception of 18 of the bats which were 34 inches / 30 ounces with a Black Finish.
Additionally, there was one order of C243C (cupped end) bats shipped on 2/12/92 which were 34 1/2 / 32 ounces with Flame treated Finish.
Throughout his career, the characteristic Gary Carter game-used bat was Model P89, either 34 or 35 inches long, which accounted for over 80 % of his H & B orders.
Good Luck !!

David, the bat is junk and the seller is as shady as can be. If i were you, i'd leave this bat alone and let some other poor sucker (right now, looks like some chump named "earlywynnfan") win this kindling. Run away! Run away!!!
Regards, Ken

Oh yeah. And thanks for not bidding again and clearing the way for me. It must have been a good price if I just bearly beat out Mr. John Taube.
