Brian,

I have 2 bats from members of the 1986 NY Mets championship team that I am not sure they actually used. I'd like to do a little research on them, if you don't mind me asking you a couple of questions --

Both bats are 1986-1989 style labeling with GENUINE & model number, player name/signature, and Louisville Slugger with "R" on barrel.

1. Wally Backman - block letters - black bat - B350 model
2. Rafael Santana - signature - natural bat - C243 model

Can you tell me the years these players ordered these particular models?

Thanks,
Nick

Wally ordered B350's in 1989 only for a total of 60. One order was full dip black while the other 48 were Gwynn finish.

Santana ordered the C243 "Natural" in Aug 1988 and ST of 1989 for a total of 24. He ordered more in 1989 but they were FT finish.

Brian,

Thank you very much for your help!

Looks like my Backman bat is a Twins bat. Also looks like my Santana bat is a Yankees bat. Both 1986 World Series champs, but sadly neither are Mets bats. The Backman was likely used by another player, as there is a different number on the knob (58). Chip Hale wore that uniform # for the '89 Twins.

By the way, what is the FT finish?
