Houston Rockets Game Used Jersey

Derrek Chievous first played for the Rockets in 1988. Is this jersey real? The seller put the jersey as 1985. Is it possible they could of use the jersey for 1988 season.

Based on the tags and the NBA logo, my best Lampson is that this is a 1986-87 or maybe 1987-88 jersey that was used a season or two later.

The NBA logo was introduced in 86-87. Not sure when the Sand-Knit crown tags first came out. I know the crown was around on 88-89 jerseys, but I'm not sure if it was on the 87-88 offerings.

I wondered that same thing. I had a snipe in on it, but pulled it. I'm not saying it isn't legit - just I have reservations. My thought was this. . .

1) I wasn't totally sure how they arrived at the fact it was a 1985 jersey. Though, I'm sure someone here can provide more information in regards to that.

2) even if they used a 1985 jersey for 1988 player, why doesn't the tagging show wear - afterall, he played a ton that first season?

Looks like the seller was less than astute in their research. The Rockets used Rawlings in 1985-86, and went to Sand-Knit when the NBA went exclusive with them in 1986-87. This looks like a 1986-87 shell (many SK gamers that year didn't carry year tags) that was issued to Chievous for 1988-89. I've often advised this seller of listing errors like this in the past. While they always acknowledge and give thanks for the heads-up, they never seem to add the update to their listing.

I've seen crown tags on 1987-88 and 1988-89 jerseys. Towards the end of Sand-Knit's NBA stint, there were both carryovers and older jerseys being worn later by teams.
