I got it narrowed down from somewhere between 1964-1972. Thanks for the help! After we get it nailed down I'll let you know whose bat it is.

I cant quite tell from the "P" in the pic, but it looks like a 65-68 model

I say 1965-69. And my guess is Roger Maris for who's bat it is?

Ya, could be. Just check the bottom loop of the "P" and see if it goes through.
And I dont understand how this seller states that its a 64-72. He should be completely capable of telling when it comes from. I notice he does that all the time, along with saying a number on the knob is the players, when it sometimes isnt. But, thats a different story.

Nate,
But in 1969-72 they switched to the large register mark in the logo. That bat has the small one.

Also the seller is a forum member and in his listing he states lates 1960's early 1970's. Bird came up with 1964-72.

Hmm, maybe Im thinking of a different seller. Looks a lot like his trademark carpet in the back.
Heres some closeups to help you out. Compliments of Tim's site.

Man, you guys are good. I'm confused too. The seller says he thinks the P goes thru. BUT-it has the small R-not the larger one. Yes, it's a Maris bat too. It's 35 inches, 33 ounces and it's an 016. Matches his records from his last two years with the Cards-but could it be a 69-72 issued after his career-and if so-why? Clear up my confusion fellas!

I completely apologize. That wasnt the seller I thought it was.
I looked at the listing and looked at the pic a bit closer. I personally think it has the "P" of a 69-72 bat.
But Yanks is correct about the "R"

Yea-me too-so which is it? If it's pre 1969 it could be an issued Maris bat during his playing years..Tuff call on this one.

I'm guessing this is a team index Roger Maris style bat, ordered by the team in 1969, post-Roger's playing career.
Maybe BMH could sound off on this?
I'm betting the small "r" after SLUGGER was placed in the 65-68 style to differentiate this bat from a bat ordered by Maris himself?
Or I guess it's possible someone at the factory just made a boo-boo?

suicide_squeeze,
The small ain't a mix up. That how it always was during the 1965-68 labeling period. Then they made it bigger after.
