i have a question concerning rawlings bats, do all professional rawlings bats have batch codes and years stamped on the bottem, more specifically a minor league bat one that has a players name then professional model instead of team. Also if it is a store model bat, do they ever stamp the model number on the knob?

Hi--welcome to Game Used Universe.

Professional model Adirondack / Rawlings bats, since 1980 (actually late 1979) will have the model number, batch code, and year of manufacture stamped on the knob of bats made for professional use. Errors are made however, and double stampings, missing codes, etc are occasionally seen. For most collectors, however, the above elements must be present for them to feel comfortable with a Rawlings bat. Exceptions include All Star bats and post-season bats.

The use of the words "Professional Model" underneath the players name on the barrel stamping occurred in 1985 and 1986. Use of the word "Pro" beneath the player's name began in 2002.

For good information on identifying oprofessional model bats, visit GUU member Jeff Scott's great site www.BirdBats.com (http://www.BirdBats.com)--- here is a link to the Rawlings information. http://webpages.charter.net/birdbats/Birdbats/Bat%20ID/AD%201980-Current.htm Also, use the 'search' feature at the top of each GUU forum with appropriate keywords, and find alot of info on virtually any game used topic.

Good Luck in future collecting.
