The first time I saw this Garo Yepremian Buccaneers jersey was in an American Memorabilia auction in 2005 and it sold for $287.

It was just in the latest Grey Flannel auction and sold for $217.20, and now it is on Ebay with a starting bid of $450.

I am just curious, how many of you keep seeing the same items pop up for sale again, and again, and again...?

Where I see this annoyance is in a slightly different form...items offered for the same price over and over by the same seller (on eBay), with no sales and no budge in the buy it now or opening bid price.

One Massachusetts seller has listed a minor league Nomar game used jersey for a minimum bid of roughly $1700 at least a half-dozen times, with no results. Likewise, the Wrigley Ballhawk who lists game home run balls repeatedly runs the same listings, with the same exorbinant buy it now prices, over and over again with no takers. The guy once told me that he really wasn't looking to sell them, hence the startospehric asking prices. Yet, if he doesn't want to really sell them, why keep listing the same ones over and over again? At least offer something different!

And then, of course, there is that GUF favorite, the Jets Mark GASTINEAu jersey, offered at least 4 times at a $750 price, with, of course, no action. Well, at least the first two, despite their refusal to budge on pricing, are selling legitimate items...not unverified junk.

My favorites are:

1. Black Betsy -- has appeared on ebay countless times, for an assortment of different prices. Last time it took a whirl on ebay, it started at $895,000 with a buy-it-now price of $1.4 million.

2. The 1988 Randy Johnson jersey --

Been on ebay for a LONG time. Good to see this one is coming down in price. Only $50,000 now.

Soon to make the list:
An autographed Barack Obama baseball for a buy-it-now price of only $422,318.00.

I might consider it myself if it were only $422,306.00 lower.

Sellers claims both Jerseys were worn by Strawberry while in the minors for a total of a couple of day stint before being called up.

So putting asied the fact your basically just going on his word as there is no real record of Strawberry wearing these due to him only being there a few days.
His price for something like these is astronomical and I asked and he will not budge.
I think it has been on ebay for a year so far.

I've seen this one over the years - beautiful piece, but was has some big time collector not jumped on it - especially for charity!

I love the 'cut and paste' description - clearly a RAWLINGS Sz 50 Set 1 1988 tagging - but the description states:

1st Regular "Rookie"
Wilson Jersey
Tag #84-1
(this means Set#1)
Size 42

I will say it is the 1st Ballpoint Obama I've seen... I have a Sharpie Obama AU ball from one of his visits here to Denver. Obama AU balls have sold for as high as about $5,000 a few months back - one recently SOLD on eBay for $1,050.75.... in the seller's defense, they do have an opening bid of ONLY $1,999.00 and NO RESERVE! ;)

All the best -

As faar as some earlier statements, one of my favorite things to watch is an item that doesn't sell and THEN the seller re-lists it... at an even HIGHER Price than what it didn't sell for before!!!

If it didn't sell for $9.99 the 1st time, why do you think it will sell for $29.99 this time???

Just my .02.

xpress, there is one justification I could see for listing an item a second time with a higher price: sometimes a higher starting price can change one's perception of the quality of the item and make it seem more desirable.

Or someone just died. That usually changes the pricing structure.

What happens when GFC buys an item from MEARS, then lists it on their website? Does it come with both a MEARS and GFC letter?

Might need to start an Item With The Most LOAs thread :)

Otis and Gator -

I agree with both of your statements, I am talking about items that I have watched not sell, then go up in price and continue to 'make the circuit' without ever selling...

All the best -

I think this happens also when the person has a low investment on the item and seller doesnt really need the money. its kinda like saying its in my collection but if you really want it here is the price. take it or leave it. keeping it even though they could get 10x what they paid for it now does not matter since they had little invested into it in the first place. is this a possible scenario.

too low a price and the buyer is skeptical of the quality or is too good to be true. but a higher asking makes the items more desirable as the seller is saying this item has value.
