I have an '84 and an '86 Clippers program. I'll see what it says for those years. Perhaps that will give you an idea.

In 1984 Jose Rijo wore #31

In 1986 Orestes Destrade wore #31

Which this doesnt help much because neither of them played for Columbus in '85. Just looked it up.
