Question for BMH: Sending bats to scouts?

Hello,

I have come across a couple player pro-model bats where they were issued to a pro scout from Louisville Slugger. What would be the reasoning to send a scout a player pro-model bat?

When I read the title I was thinking Boy Scouts...

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind it, but I do know our sales reps do place pro model orders with scouts.
