I was wondering if anyone else received a pair because mine were definately refurbished. The Steiner website states:

"Seats may differ from shown and have not be refurbished in anyway."

The arms have been painted and the nuts/bolts holding the seat back and bottom are new and shiny.

I'll let you know when I get mine. Are you on the East Coast?

Perhaps the same thing was done for the Shea seats because of the lead issues in the old paint. All the metal stands were repainted on the Shea seats. I can't imagine the City of NY letting the Yankee seats go out without repainting the metal stands after repainting all the Shea seats.

You are correct. I was able to find this info:

The seat backs, bottoms and frames have each been bar-coded and tagged by authenticators, and in the next two weeks, they will be shipped to Syracuse, separated, stripped of lead, repainted and reassembled.

"We found a color that looked like the faded blue they are now," said Adam Raiken, the Yankee staffer charged with overseeing the carnage.

What a joke !! That's like taking a game used bat, sanding it down and refinishing it....all the years of use and originality hidden under paint "that looked like the faded blue they are now" lead has to be addressed, to me the rehab and new hardware puts them nowhere near what Steiner is selling them for....sad.

.......Not to mention all of the smells deeply imbedded in those seats from upset stomachs due to all the losing in the Mattingly years.......
the Steinbrenners put that poor star and his fans through hell, didn't they?

All of that history will be lost.......truly sad.

Why throw that kind of money at a refurbished plastic seat when you can buy an original wood seat with enough lead paint to kill a small animal? I'd take the wood seat any day over the plastic.
