Been looking for one and this one has been dropped in price considerably...Thoughts? Does the autograph or crack hurt the value?

Trying to still learn about bats, thanks in advance for help...Mets05

Typically cracks lower the value of bats.

But it depends on what you like. I personally like cracked bats.

As far as the autograph if it's legit it will increase the value of a bat.

The Wright bat in the auction is legit but you should email the seller to get the exact year code in the knob to make sure it's 2004. The model number, lot, year, (M63?S 612 ??) is hard to read. Ask the seller what is stamped on the knob. The ?? should be 04 if is from 2004.

Thanks for the help, been out of commission for a few days but do appreciate the feedback...will see what happens.

Saw a game issued but a little too late as there is only a couple of hours left and not enough time to do any research.

Thanks again,

Another one up for sale...Looks to be legit with the stamping mentioned in the auction listing, hard to read with these photos...

The seller is a reputable Mets collector too. The bat is definitely a pro model gamer.

I'd ask to see the left side of the barrel to gauge the amount of use on this bat. Look for hit marks, lace marks, etc.

The pine tar looks correct but the handle looks little too clean in my opinion.

Random question, 2009 Wright bat in this auction...trying to do a photo match on the net but was wondering if anyone how long it takes to get game action...

This bat is stamped 04/08/2009, how long from the stamp till it is possibly used? A week, month or a couple of months?

Thanks in advance,

Mets05,

How long a bat takes to get used based on a stamp or when a player receives it is impossible to answer. A lot of factors goes into when a player changes a bat among them 1) his main gamer gets cracked, 2) develops dead wood, 3)gets stolen, or 4) player feels there are no hits left in it. From observing Wright this year his LV bats had tons of pine tar on them which may indicate he use only a couple and for a very long time.

The bat in the auction does not show the typical type of use seen on David's LV gamers this year and was probably obtained before he got to use it in many games. It does not say it in the description nor does it look like this bat is cracked either.

Hope this helps.

Metsbats, I should pay to have you on retainer...you have been most helpful in my newfound hobby...

Yeah, that is what I was thinking...Most of the photos I went through and from games I saw I person, it seemd to me Wright was using a ton of pine tar this season...

Thanks again for your help...Mets05

Mets05,

I just posted a Wright 09 gamer on the October pick-ups. From my research most of his Louisville Sluggers look more like mine. My date stamp is 7/15/2009. You can judge the amount of use and bat life from the photos of the bat and these dates.
Aug 11, 2009 bat is brand new with no marks.
Bat is used between the August 11 and August 15 until he is struck on the head and put on the DL.
Wright returns September 1 and alternates using the bat with a similar bat with less use. Bat is finally broken on August 8. Has a very, very minor closed crack hidden by pine tar.

I have also attached a photo of another 2009 DW bat. David started using the black LVS bats during the very last part of the season. This one is uncracked and shows light use. It was sourced directly from DW after the Washington Nationals Road stand.

Hope this helps you out on the expected usage and life span of a DW bat.

rmichne,

I saw your post in October pick-ups and was going to comment...I am been looking for one similar to yours, with great wear and one that can photomatched...I also noticed Wright using the black LVS when he came off the DL in September.

The LVS in auction shows minimal use with very light pine tar, imho...Will keep researching and thanks for the help...Mets05
