It'd be worth a few hundred dollars to whomever has the barrel end of it since half-bats go for so much less than a repaired full one.

Didn't this guy recently sell a Pujols barrel with no knob? Does anyone have that link? I can't find it and there's no feedback yet for that transaction. Would love to see if this knob belongs with that barrel.

Yes, that's it. He stated the barrel was from a 2009 bat while the handle is stamped a 2008.

Tough to be certain, but the handle doesn't look to be a match with the barrel. Close, but no cigar. What do you think?

Man, it's tough to say without holding both ends in your hands and trying to piece them together. For whatever reason, Marucci seems to shear off in a very consistent way. Not all of them of course, but a fair number.

I don't know if it's because Albert's swing is so consistent, or what. I tried to match two halves of a bat earlier this year based on photos and finally gave up, since nearly every photo of Albert breaking his bat featured an almost identical looking break.

The guy who won the knob is the same that won the barrel. Our favorite Cardinal collector Wearingitagain. Knowing his history, we are gonna see one hell of a bat recreated pretty soon...

The barrel has the black dot on it for the maple slope thing so it is from 2009. So it wouldn't be from the same bat if it is stamped 2008.

Of course, most people wouldn't know that. You do have to wonder why anyone would pay $77.99 for a knob unless they had a plan for getting a good return on their investment.

I'm not going to assume bad intentions, but this is one to keep on the radar.

With the buyer (Wearingitagain) - we have seem some of the most obnoxious forgeries out there. I'lll go ahead and assume for you.
I can't wait for the follow up to this thread. I'll put down some grip that the bat is only 32 inches when it's 'repaired'. One needs to saw off the excess wood to get a good glue bond on both pieces.
