what does the diamond on the bat handle knob mean?

I have seen a few bats that have diamonds drawn on and colored in on the handle knob underneath the jersey number. Some are in silver pen, black pen, gold pen, red pen and so on. They are pretty small and all the ones i have seen are horizontal. Any help would be appreciated.
