font and/or inch size is for knob model numbers

    Hi,

Does anyone know what the font and/or inch size is for knob model numbers on H & B bats from the late 50s / early 60s?

    Thank you.

    I'm thinking 5/8"?

    Thank you.

I just measured a few, and they measure from 1/4"-5/16", depending on the letter/number. They are the same size and font of the vault marks on bats returned to the H&B factory. This style continued until they started putting model numbers on the barrels in 1976. It also looks like the second style of knob markings started in the 1950's, with those being more block style and a hair smaller - about 1/4" in height. A third style shows up in 1961-64 era bats that is much thinner than previous versions. This may have started sooner, but my collection mainly consists of Astros/Colt .45's (1962 and later), and pre-WWII gamers, so I don't have many 1950's exemplars.

Always looking for vintage game used bats of Houston Buffs and Colt .45's players.
