Just picked up this rookie era Barry Larkin LS M110 bat from Grey Flannel. Has remnants of the spiral tape pattern that Larkin used. #15 on both ends (see photos). I looked up what numbers he wore in my Baseball by the Numbers book and it doesn't list his # in 1986 but he played 41 games? 1987 he's listed as #15. Starting in 1988 he wore #11. Does anybody know his number in 1986? Any help on this bat would be appreciated. I got it for 60.00 so I'm thinking I got a heck of deal, but I'm not a Larkin expert. As you guys know I mostly collect 1970s Reds stuff. Thanks!

Not sure about the number, but the bat is from the 1983-1985 labeling period. So, you may have to look back a little farther.

I believe Larkin wore #15 in 1986-87. See link for photos.

Is it a minor league bat from 83-85?

To me, it appears to be a minor league bat.

Looks like 1985 was his first year in the minors.

Yea, I bet it's from his 1985 first minor league season in Vermont since it's an 83-85 model. Is that a steal for 60.00? I like Larkin, just not familiar with his price range on bats.

If I were a Reds fan, I'd consider it a steal.

Amazing price on the bat, everything looks pretty good on it as his bat. The only thing, the signature does not look that great. Maybe it was rushed or from a long time ago, but it looks a little bunched compared to his usual.

That autograph does not look right to me.

Yea, don't really care about the autograph either way. Just care about the bat. I could remove the autograph if not legit. But it would be an autograph from probably around 1985. Sometimes they change over time.
Thanks for the help guys.

Greg,

Just wondering, how would you remove the autograph? Thanks.

With some rubbing alcohol or Peroxide. It takes some elbow grease but it will eventually remove it.
