Anyone here believe this stuff was worn by Varitek?

OK, found these 3 auctions today on ebay.

This is the mask:

Does anyone think Tek actually wore these items? :confused:

The All Star logo is missing on the middle leather part of the mask. Search Getty as Jason's mask has this logo sewn on the front.

No comment on the chest protector

And as far as the shin guards go they can be photomatched on getty picture number Editorial image #: 88208514 if you look at the auction picture from sportsworld the right guard has some tape or some type of residue right under where the knee bends. On the getty picture it is actually the Left guard on Varitek's leg you can see the residue.

My guess would be the bullpen catcher's equipment. It's missing the "TEK" initials on the chest protector and that mask is an odd style for him.

I looked at the Getty image you suggested here and will go you one further, the shin guards that Tek is wearing in the picture also have the extra piece at the bottom covering his toe, the shin guards in the auction do not have this piece.

The mask and chest protector are bullpen gear. Missing TEK from the chest protector and the mask should have TEK written in black sharpie on the front lower left area. http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/88881600/Getty-Images-Sport

Not sure on the shin guards but I did see Teks "knee savers" being sold on eBay a few weeks ago by the same sellers. The were red and his number 33 were stitched on each.

I thought I was the only other person that called them "knee savers." I saw those and was going to bid on them and missed out on that auction, I had the flu and was kinda out of it.

...well everyone should call them "knee savers" because that is what they are. And I can't speak highly enough about them. They were a life...err knee saver when I played, one of the things that I credit to my knees not being ruined. If you have a son or daughter that wants to play catcher, I highly recommend them.
