Whats up fellas, just wanted to share the good word. Seems to be a few nice things on nfl auctions for any Bears collectors. Everything looks nice but i think the Pep gloves may be a little suspect. I was at the game and i definitley remember him wearing orange gloves and he actually threw them into the crowd as he was walking in from the field. In any case good luck to anyone trying to win anything.

Well, Nice pick up rick, love the Briggs jersey. i think i might try to get my sights on one of those this year. turns out the Urlachers Might be a little out of my reach as a collector. all good though. gonna try and get a tillman and a briggs this year. hopefully i have a little luck, might have to come searching on the boards since JO doesnt seem to have exactly what im looking for.
Also for what its worth, who in there right mind would wash a game used jersey, if youre gonna do that you might as well go buy an authentic and leave the game worns to the real collectors. id be pissed if i ever traded or sold one and found out the owner washed it. i know its theirs, but id still be pissed. anyways, good luck to all the future hunts/purchases.

Pep gloves are definitely NOT from the 10/10 game. As stated above he was in orange gloves the entire game. Getty has plenty of pics...

Maybe from the 10/3 game? Suspect as well. Although Pep wore that style, it is clear in his photos that his right wrist was heavily taped. All the way to me middle of his palm. Why am I suspect then? The gloves have NO indication, i.e. marks, residue, etc. from the tape.

Playing football myself, and being taped weekly (even if you use under wrap) the tape used ALWAYS leaves residue, or tape marks. The ones at auction a spankin' clean.

Another reason for concern is it seems damn near every other player (from all teams) that wore pink items during Oct. signed them. Why are these not signed? Maybe because Pep never saw them? Who knows.

For the money these things will end up getting, its a little too suspect for me. I would like a little better evidence that these were the actual gloves on Pep's hands....

Just nabbed this Julius Peppers signed game ball. The guy who sold it to me had no certs or proof, but supposedly the ball is from the Jan. 2nd Bears/Packers game where it was signed by Peppers after the game. I'm not 100% sure on the signature, but the ball shows game use. For the price the guy was asking I couldn't pass it up.

Another alert from the gamer bloodhound, Brian P Moran, resulted in my acquisition of this little gem.
2009 Anthony Adams team-issued jersey from the Ed Block Courage Awards Foundation.
Anthony was the Bears' recipient of the award this year. I don't usually bother with team-issued stuff but for $156 any signed gamer is a steal. Big thanks again to Brian.

Here are a couple new acquisitions of mine thanks to JO.
-Lance Briggs 2010 home jersey used, briefly because he had a bum ankle, against the Redskins. (Also, included a pic of my whole GU Briggs collection)
-Anthony Adams 2010 away jersey used against the Giants. The jersey is absolutely trashed and has tons of blood stains. Also, there is still some two sided tape stuck to the inside of the shoulders. The two sided tape still has some rubber pieces of the Giants field turf stuck to it.
-Anthony Adams 2010 dark jersey worn at the Panthers. The jerseys shoulders are pretty hammered and the TV numbers on the left shoulder has a nice turf stain.

Hello again, just nabbed this bad boy, an Aaron Gibson GU home jersey attributed to the 2003 season. This is by far the biggest jersey I've ever seen. It's a size 56 +4 with what appears to be another +4 added to it. Gibby played his college ball at the U of Wisconsin and was a first round pick of the Lions in 1999, if I remember right. I've been told Gibby also holds the distinction of the NFL's first player over 400 lbs. I haven't been able to find a photo match for this thing yet, but there are a couple hit marks on the shoulders and a brownish, blood-like stain on the front autographed "7".

I will tell you and I will not even kill you. It is a old school football trainer method. (Not recomended by equipment managers).... players order shoes half size to small for a tighter fit. So there for the cut star shaped holes in their shoes to give their toes a little extra room. some players cut their cleats on top for their toes and some cut the side of the cleats. But overall this is why they cut star shaped. Hope this helps. If I can get it attached i will attach a photo to show you.

So there for the cut star shaped holes in their shoes to give their toes a little extra room. some players cut their cleats on top for their toes and some cut the side of the cleats. I have to disagree with this comment. If this was the case Brian would be in 12.5's - not 13's.

The trainer trick is correct but in this case it wasn't because Brian's shoes were to small. Otherwise every set would have been cut like that. There are only a few pair that have that cut in the toe.

Man, we need an EDIT FEATURE.

To continue, the photo you provided does support your theory, however you will notice that both shoes are altered (in the toe) in that pic. The Urlacher cleats in discussion here only have that on 1 cleat. If they did it for size reasons, one would sure think that both cleats would have been cut.

This year is the 10th Anniversary year, so we all decided that it was time to get new uni's. I am quit impressed. Modeled after the Hurricane's style, 2x tackle twill, all stitched. Very nice. It's almost a shame that I'm going to have to go and tear my all up.

Black socks are secretly my favorite, anyway.

The nameplate on the away looks to be shortened and the old stitch marks are still visible. The sleeves have the wrong hem under the arm gussets....they're clearly not double stitched. Well, it's not the one shown in all the 2004 photos. Note the position of the upper chin strap mount. And it seems odd there's an unused lower snap behind the bar of the facemask.

Also the screws in the upper chin strap are not the type used... the screws attaching this chinstrap are generic Schutt screws. And there is no team colored "Riddell" stamping on the lower portion of the Adams chinstrap. If you look at this guys helmets for sale, 99% of them are fakes.

Just looked at the auction photos more closely, and I guess the Urlacher helmet on Ebay has more scuffs on it than I realized. So perhaps it is a real game used Bears helmet, but hard to tell if it is actually Urlacher's helmet.

What's the 54 in the interior? I'll tell ya - its wrong. Pads are clean. When have you ever seen a Bears helmet with the pad button left white? Facemask is brand spankin' new. The "C" decals are in the wrong position, not to mention they are the retail ones that anyone can buy on flea-bay. The chinstrap itself had the manufacturer lettering removed. Why? I'll tell ya - It's a garbage helmet.

Trust me - if there was ever one released to the market I WOULD OWN IT!

I did pick this up from the latest JO auction, I posted the JO photos, haven't had the chance to take my own

Nick Roach away jersey from the 2009 Bengals game. This jersey is beat, I counted 7 team repairs, several un-repaired tears, and leftover tape inside the shoulder and collar. As you can see, many helmet marks and dirt all over, I couldn't be happier with the jersey, I'm glad I went for it.

Back to the McMahon: the nameplate has 2 major deal-breaking errors.
I've always begged everyone to find a picture of McMahon in a Bears jersey with no spacing between the "Mc" and the "Mahon" on the nameplate. Nobody's ever been able to do it. I have thousands of hours of game footage and volumes of photo archives and even I can't find any evidence that he wore anything different.
Number two......the "A" on the auction jersey's nameplate.
The Bears have never, and I mean EVER used that "A" in any way shape or form. Not even on their retail authentics, hence this is nothing more than a bad custom job.

I won't even get into the sleeves and the sizing......wrong and wrong.

Finally got one of my jerseys in from Josports, this was quite the headache to get my hands on. Long story short, it took 4 months of BS to finally reach my doorsteps. In any case, proud to show it off, doubt he's coming back but ive always been a huge fan on D. Manning. He's an incredible athlete and I love his straight up the field return style. '07 Navy against the Vikings. It's easily photomatched since he was all over the place that game.

While I can't read the year/month code on your photo of the Wilson tag, the jersey, if intended for Thayer to wear, would have to be from 1991 or 1992 based on the presence of the NFL neck logo. Plus, in 1993, Thayer was with Miami and Champion was supplying the Bears.

If the year code is D, it's a 1991. If it's E, it's 1992. If it's anything else, I would question whether it was actually issued to Thayer.

Spot on Dave. I always have to question jerseys from that period, for that exact reason - the CODE. Something just seems off with the length of that jersey too. I always seem to recall that the retail authentics were shorter. More of a t-shirt style. But, then again, I have not seem many legitimate jerseys from that time period either.

I know this is a Bears thread and all but here is my photo-matched Richard Dent 49ers home non throwback. Basically the only home shirt he wore the entire season as he was hurt against the Chiefs. It is matched to the entire preseason and the Raiders game. The 2 loose threads on the front #9 match up perfectly. The shirt also has a 49ers team letter.

I love the display...I'm working on my own Jets room currently, and wondering if you use shoulder pads on your mannequins? Or if you could direct me towards a quality set of mannequins? I'm looking to buy about 20 of them, but don't want to break the bank....

Thanks jhunt. I use real shoulder pads on regular hangers. I just buy them used off of ebay or craigslist and try not to pay more than 20-25 bucks apiece for them. I've found that you can use youth-sized pads and they look fine and can usually be picked up for way less money than adult sizes.
Make sure you post some pics of your Jets display when you get it done. ;)

The 2011 Roscoe Rush are 1-0 in the regular season (3-1) overall. As of now, I have accumulated 19 tackles (9 for a loss), 4 sacks, 2 tipped passes, & a fumble recovery for a TD (50 yrds.) I currently lead the team in tackles (4) & was named Player Of The Week in our loss to Dubuque.

So...we're currently 4-1 with a huge divisional game this week. If we win we get home field for the playoffs. If we lose we're in a 3 way tie for 1st. Last week we murdered the Milwaukee Venom 62-20. We had 50 at halftime.

I've had a pretty quiet year playing NT in a 3-4. I've also played a little weak DE, Guard, Tackle and Center. Basically if something is going wrong on the line, I'm the one who gets to fix it. I have a some tackles and maybe 2 half sacks. I also had a blocked kick against a huge win over last years' division champs.

Also, starting Aug 6th I will be doing double duty because my Fall league team starts. I will be attempting to play 2 games that weekend. One on Sat. and one on Sunday. This time of year is pretty rough on the body :o.

I bought the Chris Harris Home jersey from JO Sports at the National. The jersey was worn thru the NFC Championship game this year. I believe I may have a photomatch from the Jets game and working on the Championship game match. The jersey has been washed but has several repairs and hit marks.

I won the Nick Roach in JO's auction about a month ago. This jersey is beat, multiple tears, repairs, and leftover tape on the inside.

Finally got around to taking some photos of my haul from the National and some updated Garza Pics.
1st - Peanut Tillman jersey that I photo matched to the NFC Championship game on the way to Super Bowl XLI
2nd - Chris Harris jersey from last year vs. Dolphins. Marked 700th win in franchise history. The Urlacher, Peppers and Cutler are on display at the HOF in Canton.
3rd - Nick Roach jersey from 2009 vs. Eagles and maybe another game cause due to a team repair on the shoulder.
4th - Roberto Garza gamer that I got signed down during my yearly visit to camp.

I hate to quote all the images as I know it takes up a lot of space but isnt it amazing how good teams are at washing out the grass stains etc from their jerseys?! There is a Packer video of 4 older ladies who made sure the gamers were clean and ready on game day and it was simply astounding how much work they put into making the shirts look like new for the game. One would think that the grass stains on the sleeve #s would be tough to get out but we have to resort to black light to expose game use sometimes! I guess teams cant have players starting games in dirty jerseys though.

A friend of mine was the junior assistant equipment manager for the 49ers in the 90s and he told me that certain players would change their jerseys at halftime if they got dirty or muddy! It was usually the star players and one has to wonder if they wore 2 shirts a game sometimes how is it that more gamers are not for sale. He told me that some gamers were turned into practice shirts, that players kept some and some were just cleaned, repaired and reused. He said he spent countless hours cleaning jerseys, changing numbers and patches and even nameplates.

I think todays NFL is much different with teams selling shirts more often and emphasizing unwashed as a main selling point. This is both good and bad in a way as the shirts are dirty, smelly and have all the "game use" we all love, but as many are worn for only one game, repairs are becoming a thing of the past. To me getting that gamer in the mail and seeing those repairs was like Christmas!

One thing that is interesting though is that I have a friend who was "hooked up" with the 49ers back in the late 80s and he would get jerseys a day or so after the game. Some of the shirts he sold me look like they had been worn for one game but others were completely hammered with use and repairs. It all depended on what shirt was handed to him. If the Lott shirt on the top of the folded stack of his shirts, had been worn only once then thats what he got. If they had just played a home game at the end of the season the Lott shirt would be hammered as it was on the top of the stack. So even back then shirts could have been worn for an entire season or just for one game.

I have attached some examples including a mid 80s Lott which was purchased 2 days after the game and thus doesnt have tons of repairs. A Haley as well as a Guy McIntrye which were worn the entire season (and thus are hammered with repairs etc) vs a Eric Wright worn for just a game or two.

I think that is what keeps this hobby interesting to me. The wide range of game use that pops up and the shirts themselves with all the customization is fascinating. They tell such a great story (sometimes not so great when you lose!).

Always buying 49ers gamers and ANY 1994 49er shirt. Paying a juicy finders fee!!!

I saw an item on one of the Internet sports news sites that indicated that Lance Briggs would be wearing red, white and blue gloves and shoes for Sunday's game as a 9/11 tribute. Even the normally robotic hierarchy at NFL headquarters, who never met a dress code aberration they couldn't take issue with, has declared that it is "unlikely" that Briggs would be fined for the dress code violation.

I wonder how many of Hester's jerseys have hit the market in which he actually ran a kick back for a TD. Can't be more than a few, I would guess.

If you look at the play-by-play of each game that individual jerseys were used in you generally see that not much was accomplished in them on that particular day. Makes me wonder if players ask to keep certain jerseys from games where they've performed well.

Yet again, it's not Bears related, but there is one loyal member who has asked for updates my semi pro updates so here it is....

Rush finish their season undefeated in league play (8-0) - (12-1 overall w/ a preseason loss). Just won the Western Conference Championship last weekend...(for lack of not wanting to explain our league set up, we basically won the NFC).

Championship game will be held at Benidictine University, Saturday the 15th, in Lisle Illinois (outside Chicago).

As far as National Rankings go, here's how it plays out after last weeks win. We face #5, who we already faced this season and won, for the Championship. Winner of our game will be ranked #1 or #2 (depending on PCT, PF, & PA) in the Nation and will go on to Florida for the National Championship to find out who's the best of the best.

We won the Championship last year (ranked #9 going in) and were invited to Nationals, but unfortunately we were unable to bring home the W.

The league is the Mid States Football League (MSFL) Teams ranging from central WI, to Springfield IL, to Indianapolis, to Dubuque IA. All NFL rules and breakdown.

My registered position this year was DE (which I played 85%) of the time. Depending on the scheme I rotate from DE to MLB to OLB. Once in a while I play a little DT, but really I'm too small for that spot. And thanks for the compliment. Not many teams can go back to back, nevertheless, be invited to Nationals for 2 consecutive years. Cost me 2 broken ribs, torn shoulder, 2 busted fingers, and thousands of bumps and scrapes.

As far as getting in to be the place holder - well, you would have 59 VERY PROTECTIVE Rush family members (including myself) to get through first. ;)

I might add that she is also a starter for the LFL Chicago Bliss as well....

And NO! I will not get you pervs her game worn uni. So don't ask, haha.

1993 was the last year the Bears used any sort of screen print or heat-pressed numbers. And in most pictures and footage from 1992-93 you start to see a mixture of jerseys with screened numbers and jerseys with sewn numbers.
The damage to that thing is epic!
