Seahawks 23, Bears 17 (OT).

The Seahawks deserved his win. Despiten nearly every challenge/replay going against them (except for the last one) and several stupid penalties, they still too the W home.

Vikings 21, Bears 14.

I'm starting to get a sinking feeling about the team's playoff hopes.

Packers 21, BEARS 13.

Getting to be more and more of a longshot to even make the playoffs every week. Oh, well...if the Bears don't make it, I'll still have some fun by rooting against the Packers.;)

Added A 2010 Briggs to the collection. The collection is now 4 strong and growing. Always looking to add that next piece. Was worn on 11/18/2010 vs the Dolphins. It is hammered, unwashed and stinks!!

The Tommie Harris looks great! I'm glad it found a good home.

Yes, the Tommie looks great!! Thanks again!!

Like I said I am always looking for the next item....I am making payment 2/3 for a Home Tillman on Friday, I will own it in 18 days. Pretty stoked about that!! It is from a 2 forced fumble and 1 recovery fumble game.

Next on my list is a Forte or Gould.

So glad to be a part of your group guys!!!

Had a pretty cool experience today. I got a chance to meet my childhood hero, Chris Zorich, for the first time in 20 years. He was really cool and, I think, taken aback that someone actually cared that much about his Chicago Bears career. Hell, when I was turning 13 I handed him an invite to my birthday party at a baseball card show. LOL!

Here are some pics from our meeting at a public signing. I had him sign his 1993 game jersey and an unused practice jersey from 1997, his last year on the Bears.

Chris Zorich was one of my all-time favorite Bears.
He agreed to do an interview with me when I was in high school, and it led me to a degree in broadcast journalism. He took an hour out of his day, and made a huge impact on my life.
What is he up to now a days?
I've tried to track him down, but to no avail.

Thanks,
Alex

Bears 28, Cardinals 13.

Great work by the "D".

Being a Bears fan, saying this is totally toxic to me, even for one week, but:

G-G-Go, Pac-Packers! Packers win and Bears win puts the Bears in the playoffs.

Received some goodies at the end of the season (wish it didn't end that way though) I got a bunch of practice used cleats and gloves that I could style match, but I did get a few game used cleats that I could photo match:

Shea McClellin game used cleats in 2012 opener against IND:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/dmul43/Chicago%20Bears%20Game%20Used%20Equipment/Sheamatch_zps1e4cadbc.jpg

Corey Wootton game used cleats against GB:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/dmul43/Chicago%20Bears%20Game%20Used%20Equipment/Coreymatch_zpsbc6eaa12.jpg

Blake Costanzo game used cleats from the entire 2012 season. These were originally black and he spray painted the strap orange for the start of the season. During BCA month, he spray painted the strap and bottoms pink. After BCA month, he spray painted the cleats blue and the bottom orange. You can see the layers of paint as it peeling away....by the far the most unique cleats in my collection!
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/dmul43/Chicago%20Bears%20Game%20Used%20Equipment/Blakematch_zps2f15d864.jpg

I'm trying to photomatch my Zack Bowman cleats since he gave them to me mid season before he started wearing the new orange and blue colorway....unfortunately, he doesn't have a lot of photos out there, but I know he wore Nikes and Under Armours during the season (He gave me both pair).

Bears 26, Lions 24.

Still, a second straight year with a second half fold cost Lovie Smith his job, for which I am thankful. While Lovie knows defense, he's clueless about offense, often too stubborn to make needed adjustments and/or player replacements, and had at least one off-field activity he was involved in in 2012 which, while he was prefectly free to do, upset me quite a bit (I won't explain here, but for people who know me and know what 2012 was, you can probably guess).

Thanks...I've received quite a number of cleats and shoes over the years and they can be so hard to photo match, especially when most of my stuff comes directly from the players, from the practice facility. But if I see a unique marking, I will attempt for a photo match....especially when I am trying find a pic for a style match anyway!

Hey guys,
I'm a Steeler fan and in being so I def appreciate great linebackers. So if u guys can help me out, how much do urlacher gamers usually go for? I know his jersey in last yrs hunt auction was on the low side but also seems to me the bears release quite a few jerseys. Does triplexxxx post much?

So what's a fair price? Thanks for the help.

Once again a BIG thanks to palehouse, a great guy in this hobby!!!

I added an AWESOME "Peanut" Tillman from 2010 (10/24/10) vs Redskins.
Peanut had 2 Forced Fumbles and 1 Fumble Recovery in this game.

This puts me up to 5 Bears jerseys, and counting.

In 2013 I will be looking to add a few from my wishlist that include.... Peppers, Forte, Cutler, Gould, Urlacher, Alex Brown, Wright, Jennings, Bennett & Marshall. If any of those can be BCA captains patch or throwback that is a BONUS!!

I've been lurking and waiting for my membership to be approved for better part of last year... But all that is behind me and I'm here!

I'll be posting some of my Bears jerseys over the next few weeks as time allows...

Here's my Penut jersey:

This jersey was worn during the Monday night game played on 12/20/2010 where the Bears killed the Vikings 40-14 to win the division!

Peanut had one INT for 56 yards plus 4 tackles, 1 tackle for loss of yards and 1 pass deflection.

from chicago tribune:
January 03, 2010|By Vaughn McClure, Tribune reporter
Whenever Devin Hester needs a little reminder of his dynamic return ability, he flips on the video (http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2010-01-03/sports/1001020453_1_punt-108-yard-return-devin-hester#) of his 97-yard kickoff runback against the Lions in 2007.
"It was kind of like ... there was a certain return we had, but I went another way, kind of created, and then broke a couple of tackles," Hester said. "I have to find myself, get back into that rhythm where one guy is not going to bring you down."

Email me ukwiedel@aol.com is that a J.O. Jersey or a NFL Auction Jersey.

I know it's not a Bears jersey, but it is Bears related. My newest addition to the collection is Olin Kreutz's white game worn New Orleans Saints jersey. I'm pretty sure this jersey was worn through the all of the preseason and against the Packers and Bears in the regular season. I say this because there is a repair under the Captain's patch. Also, you can see where the normal Captain's patch was removed in order to place the BCA one. (Olin retired the week he would've worn the BCA patch.)

Pretty happy with this pick up. One of these days I'm going to have to nail down one of Olin's home gamers...some how...

This is the triple threat in my collection.

Throwback set from the 2010 season worn against the Packers and Vikings.
vs GB, Earl had 3 receptions for 21 yards.
vs MN, Earl had 3 receptions for 21 yards.

Alternate jersey is from the 2011 season against the Lions.
Earl had 6 receptions for 81 yards.

Home jersey was worn through the 2011 season including the NFC Championship game where he had a touchdown...

I would love to get a 2011 away jersey to round out the set...

I'm new to the forum so i'm gonna start posting pictures soon! but here is a little list of the pieces i got.

Chicago bears:

- Mark Anderson rookie year home Jersey (detroit lions game)
- 2 game issued chicago bears helmets

Welcome! I am a Michigan State University alumni collector and a few Spartans played in Amsterdam, Tupe Peko and Ulish Booker. Would love to see their jerseys if you have them!

Thanks, much appreciated. Honestly, I haven't updated it in a while. A couple of those jerseys have moved on and I've added a few more to the collection. I've gotten lazy and been utilizing photobucket.com. One of these days I'll get to updating the site. :)

JO bought out Game Exclusives around '06-'07. I've seen a couple jerseys with COA's from both JO and Game Exclusives from around this period.

So it's possible to find jerseys that date back to 2004 or so with JO and/or Game Exclusives COA's?

This jersey was found on local Craigslist. Seller appears to be a small time collector with a few signed pieces, Roscoe Rush gu helmet and the jersey with road pants dated 99 that didn't belong to the same player...

2001 dated Phillip Daniels home jersey.

Even though he was with the Bears for only 4 season, he has had a great career with Washington Redskins where he played 7 seasons and was eventually hired as the director of player development.

Interesting. I play for the Roscoe Rush. Would you mind me asking what the link is to that helmet or where your 'local' classified were found. i.e. - Rockford, La Salle Co., etc...

Thanks

Here's my Desmond Clark from the 2010 season.

This is his last home jersey which was worn on 10/17 (Week 6).
He became inactive from week 7 through week 16 and played his last game on week 17 at Green Bay wearing the away jersey...

I know that he works in nearby Libertyville and I'm debating if I should contact him to get it signed...

Nice Dez, I was looking at that one also. Dez is a really good guy. I'm sure if you got a hold of him he would be happy to sign it. With him transitioning into real estate he's not too hard to find on social media. :) Good luck!

Here's my latest pickup, a '72 or '73 Lionel Antoine home jersey. The jersey shows decent use with a couple repairs on the backside of the shoulders. There jersey also features a Wilson tag with the size being hand written. The jersey also looks like it was shortened.

Being a lineman my whole playing career, I have a soft spot for vintage Bears gamers of linemen. :D

That's pretty cool. I know with my collection, I really like getting my gamers signed. Usually, the reaction of the players to seeing their jerseys is priceless. I know Spice Adams about lost it when he saw that I had one of his. For me it's just another way I can connect with some of these guys. :)

If I were you, I'd try and talk to Warner. You never know, he may have some stuff from his playing days that he might be willing to part with. Just my 2 cents. :)

Added my first non defensive players jersey to my collection. Stoked to add this alternate Gould to the collection. From what the seller says it was worn for a couple seasons.

Now to find some offensive players. Looking for a Forte (prefer TD game), Bennett & Hester (TD Return)

My "Bears Den" is definately coming along.

Please over look the floral couch. A new couch is on my list of to do's, but I keep finding game used items to buy.

I picked up the Kevin Butler throwback from the 1994 season off of eBay.

The only picture that I can find of him in that uniform is slightly different from what I won...

Were there multiple sets?

Does anyone else have or seen pictures of Butler in the throwback uniform?

Any help would be appreciated, otherwise it might go back to the seller...

I remembered the original Legendary Auction that had the Butler and a few other throwbacks. What made we weary was the description of the Kramer: http://www.legendaryauctions.com/LotDetail.aspx?inventoryid=124989&auctionid=78&page=0&sortby=0&displayby=2&lotsperpage=100&category=26

I thought this was quite uncanny - Walter Payton driving license. Excuse my ignorance on the driver's license market but has anyone seem parallel items like this before? I love atypical items (I consider this one) and I actually would like to own it but i've never seen something like this before. Anyone else? What is the market for these things? Any legal issues involved in selling or owning one?

How many 2012 Urlacher gamers have hit the market this year?

I'm wondering since this may be he's last season with the Bears and injury limited him to games played, if cost is going to rise on this one?

Agreed, Is Nice!!

I landed a sweet pair of Brandon Marshall cleats from this past season. They are dual signed and inscribed "god bless". For some reason I cant post pics from my tablet, and my computer is not working....so you have to use your imagination :) they are low top black Reeboks. Possibly worn at Vikings or at Detroit.

"Palehose"- you are like me in that we collect multiple gamers of the same player. Even though we already have 4 or more shirts of a specific player we are always looking for more!

Players that I have more than one game worn jersey include:

Joe Montana (4-3 home, 1 away)
Steve Young (11- 5 home, 4 away, 1 pro bowl, 1 practice)
Jerry Rice (9- 3 home, 2 away, 2 practice, 2 Madden flag football game worn)
Deion Sanders (6-49ers 1 home, 2 away 1 practice, 1 pro bowl, Ravens-1 away)
Ricky Watters (8- 5 home, 2 away Seahawks-1 home)

The list goes on and on.....

At least there are other collectors out there like myself who loves the idea of having as many styles of a single players jersey as they can obtain.

I follow this thread regularly and really enjoy it. It is one of the only football related threads that is constantly being updated with new additions.

I have no intention of changing the focus of this thread to anything other than the Bears but I posted 3 images of player collections that I have. The images do not include all of the players shirts though.

Keep it coming Chicago Bear collectors as the gamers are great to see. That IS Urlacher is a beast!!!

I wish I could drop some serious coin in order to obtain a game used Urlacher but as it stands, it's just out of my price range... Although if I can convince the wife to keep our son out of daycare, I could have 3 Urlacher gamers a year!

i finally made an effort to sort my collection out! on the left you can see the amsterdam admirals part, on the right you can see the bears part,

bears items i own are:

- the vapor jet 2.0 gloves
- Dom DeCicco international series game used away jersey
- Brian Iwuh international series game used away jersey
- Mark Anderson bears@lions game used home jersey
- Corey Graham pro bowl season pants and handtowel, worn in the seahawks@bears game
- Corey Graham practice jersey
- the helmets arent game used but authentic
- the BCA ball is game used i have to look up wich game in the certificate
- Jamar Williams signed and game used cleat
- the Hester jersey is pro cut, but dont think its used, the cut of the jersey itself seemed right, so maybe a game-issued one, either way a nice jersey.

- Under Armour 9/11 game used cleats, worn by Andre Roberts from the Arizona Cardinals, no bears item but pretty much a must have!

note: The chicago bears ring is a replica, but the amsterdam admirals ring is a player owned worldbowl championship ring, my holy grail item.

I've gotten a few emails telling me about the 2011 Briggs Christmas jersey on Ebay but if I remember correctly the photos from JO this jersey showed lots of dirtdirt stains so I believe this jersey was altered or washed by the current owner which to me makes the jersey about a quarter of the value. I messaged the owner asking if the jersey had been washed by him and he says shows good use so no definitive proof or answer on my part or his. I thank all the emails telling me about the Briggs though and keeping a lookout for me.

I got the rack and shelves from IKEA, the shelves are the ones that you can put on your wall without any brackets showing

The Rack is just a simple thing, you can hang your curtains on them, and its adjustable to 2.14 mtrs.

Picked up a few more jerseys... Here's a nice Ron Cox from 1992 with many battle scars and repairs. White color hides them so well... Up until this jersey, I thought the collar war ripped by the players but after this jersey, I realized that it's a team modification!

solarlottry
03-23-2013, 08:48 PM
Samets- great pickup!!! I have quite a few 49er gamers with similar collar modifications. It seems as if gamers from 1992-1995 had this custom neck but after 1995 it is way less common. I have also seen a number of late 80s shirts with custom neck alterations with some of the jerseys having extra material sewn into the neck for added comfort.

The shirt you posted is exactly the type of jersey I really like to collect. The multiple repairs, hit marks, field paint and other indicators of game use are what make a jersey special. We just do not see these type of shirts coming from the teams any longer. Most shirts on NFL Auctions have been worn in one or two games and lack the punishing use that NFL game worn jerseys should have.

To me repairs are what make a jersey unique and can also help clarify if a jersey is indeed authentic. The 49ers have had a very typical type of repair over the last 30 years. Knowing what these repairs look like and how the various teams patch tears or holes has allowed me to pass up shirts that I may have otherwise purchased.

Keep em coming Samets!

You should B Consulting with BIGSTIGA Maybe Dude Will Show U the Light of Day.

In My World More is Less & Less is More and If I wanted 2 Collect Trash I Would Have Become a Garbage Man.

Ron,

I'm not sure where to even begin with the above self-righteous rant...
I don’t need to consult anyone to tell me what I should be collecting. I collect what makes ME happy and if it happens to be a no one from 1992, so what? I’m not here to chase high dollar jerseys, as previously stated ; “I personally started to move away from the current players and higher prices to the forgotten heroes of the days long gone.” The beauty of this hobby is that everyone can collect what they like… I personally rather have 5 hammered 90’s jerseys than one modern shirt that saw one game’s worth of use. I enjoy the old uniforms and the process of research done for every jersey I acquire.
As far as getting “BURNED” down the line comment… I’m not sure how you know what I paid for my jerseys but rest assured, I will not be burned. I’m here to collect and as a true collector, I collect for my enjoyment and not to make a profit down the line that should be left to Investment collectors…
Did you take the comments from the other thread as a personal attack on you or other collectors that buy jerseys of current guys? I simply stated my personal opinion and no disrespect is ever meant toward any collector when I express my views of the state of the hobby and prices as I see them…
I would love to own many of the jerseys in your collection, just not at the price you’re willing to spend on them. I’m sure I’ll be able to buy many modern jerseys down the line for what I feel is a fair price to me. I’m really looking forward to adding a nice Urlacher, Briggs, Peppers, Hester and Gould to my collection.

..understood.. i have 2 of these and decided to move one as i'm not a football collector.but the most annoying thing about it was this knot heads' expert analysis as to why the value has diminished so much and will continue to plummet...the comical part of about it was that his offer was the lowest of all that i turned down,,there was one for almost double of what this clown offered. i'd rather keep it than let it end up in the hands of these type of dip-stick collectors who remind me of those who entered the card collecting hobby only after it gained popularity in late 80's and early 90's.

Pulled due to CHEAP arse offers and so-called experts stating that value is 1k or less

Sorry bud but the market sets the price. I don't know what the offers were and what the experts told you... I watch many jerseys and was simply making an observation...

Last Hester at NFL Auctions that I personally saw only ended up bringing a little over $1,500 or so and that was a jersey with a patch that Ron picked up right above the post you quoted. If the primary market sells at X"" and we all agree that NFL Auctions tends to be on the high side, then what does a regular Hester bring on the secondary market?

I realize that many people bought from JO and paid serious coin for their jerseys but the secondary market just doesn't support/justify those prices. I feel bad for guys that own high dollar jerseys that were bought from JO and will never see their money back. At least you got to own a jersey off of the stars back and enjoy it while that player is still with the team! That has got to be worth it, otherwise, you are in the wrong hobby.

Mick-

Id keep the Hester for now. Reebok stuff seems to be in lower demand right now. Just wait until he retires, the market for them will dry up and you could get lucky then moving it.

I agree. This is the off-season. Wait until the first or second return for touchdown Hester makes and list it then!

I personally think this is his last season with the Bears... He sold his Gurnee home for a serious loss (over $100k) and just listed his McMansion in Riverwoods (will lose his ass there as well) leaving the smallest house in Lake in the Hills...

as cryptic as this post is I get his jest... too many people place to much emphasis on the value of pieces (ie/ not worth that,,paid to much for that).. who is to say what value what holds.. Pale owns many great pieces.. the value lies within the person who pays and owns it. too many bozo's collect for value..or "good" value or "good" buy,,much as they did during the card collecting boom (and decline).... if they want a Harley for the price of a Honda...maybe their in the wrong hobby

Mick and Samets- I could not agree more with your points. I collect what I like and never base what I buy on how much I think I can sell it for down the line. Most other collectors may think that I spend way too much on certain "common" shirts. If I need that particular player to complete a portion of my collection then I usually pay what it takes to get it done. Obviously I hate to overpay but it all boils down to supply and demand.

When a vintage 49er shirt pops up of a mid level player such as Jeff Fuller, I bid to win. His gamer popped up in a Legendary Auction 2-3 years ago and I ended up paying over 1000$ for it because of one other bidder. The shirt was a beauty and worth every penny but I doubt most other NFL collectors would dream of paying that kind of $$$ for a random late 1980s safety whose career was cut short by injury. Fuller was one of my favorite players who was fun to watch so acquiring his shirt was critical as I had sold one of his shirts many years ago.

Collectors are in the game used hobby for a multitude of reasons but my goal, which is to collect what I like and not worry about the resale issue is just one way to look at it. If there were not multiple reasons for being involved with the hobby then their might be less selling thus making it harder to acquire things. I realize that it is frustrating when one buys high and is forced to sell low but that is a fact of life sometimes and one that almost cannot be avoided in the GU hobby at times.

Always buying 49er game used!

You have to consider the source on this as this individual has been on this site for 1-year & now he's some self proclaimed expert in everything!

He downs Star Player jerseys & transactions and makes off like he's not into them while at the same time COVETING these same jerseys but wanting to pay "Hot Trash" prices like he's used to paying on his 3rd & 4th tier "Forgotten Heroes of the Days Long Gone" & I hate to be the one to break it to you rusty but they aren't "Forgotten Heroes" they are just Plain Forgotten.

He will pay $400 on a 2012 home Kellen Davis or $2,300 between a 40's TB, Orange Alt and Home Earl Bennett..... LMFAO! But $900 is a reach for a BCA Hester or $1,500 for a 40's Throwback (1 of 2 in Existence) Hester??? But Dude will pay $1,200 for the 40's TB Bennett?

Sad thing is this individual could have owned a couple of Quality Pieces by now such as an Urlacher, and either a Peppers or Briggs with all of the $$$ that was spent on so called "Forgotten Heroes"

Some ought to stick to Face Paint, Flea Markets, Garage Sales & their Routes and Less Time Rationalizing their Lowball Strategy

Ron,

I feel dirty by just replying to you! I will get down to your level and level with you:

I have been on this site for only a year since it took almost as long to get approved to comment but have been collecting for many more, not that it changes my opinion on things.

I don't "down star player jerseys"! and openly stated that I would love to own them but I PERSONALLY will not pay the hyped-up prices. I "down" the clowns that bought too high and then try to re-sell down the road for what they paid but can't and won't accept the fact that they OVERPAID!. If no one wants it at your asking price, that means it's overpriced. It's simple economics but the guy cleaning up pigeon waste wouldn't know anything about that... Someone has been up and down the street trying to unload a BCA jersey for months and still no takers!? I personally have been offered the same jersey 3 or 4 times and said no every time, maybe a trade? -PASS... I did not even make an offer on it, yet sellers opinion is forced down my throat justifying the asking price.

I have never stated that I'm an expert and everything I say is my opinion. Do you think it's OK for me to have an opinion? I'm not forcing it down your throat am I? If you don't like it, move on! it's OK! I won't be mad.

Why do my forgotten heroes bother you so much? Is it because I don't want to buy your family's overpriced leftovers?. I'm happy that you found a clown to unload all of your leftovers on though. Did you ask him what he paid for his Bennett? I will be absolutely thrilled to continue buying what I like since "they are just Plain Forgotten". I mean, who wants jerseys of forgotten players right? Although many people on this forum collect common players from all years of all sports, do you think we are all wasting our time and money?

I'm also confused why you care what I buy? It's my collection and I can and do buy what I want. I'm a big boy, my mom told me so! I also wonder where you got the cost of my jerseys? I'm sure JO is not publishing their books and I have never stated the prices publicly so where do you get your information? I can tell you that my 40's throwback Bennett (1of1) did not cost me $1,200! Are you sure your source is trustworthy and has accurate information? Do you secretly want me to sell you my Salute to Soldiers Davis? You know it's also a 1 of 1! jersey.

I have never been offered or bid on a $900 BCA Hester nor a $1,500 40's throwback Hester so I don't know how that's a stretch for me. I also don't know how you know what my finances look like but rest assured, I am buying all forgotten heroes offered to me! I will pay more for heroes with patches too!!!

The rest of your rant does't apply to me so I'm not sure what to say!?! I don't face paint, go to fleamarkets/garage sales although I look for jerseys on Craigslist... I have no route and there is no "lowball" strategy! I pay what I feel something is worth to me!

AND as far as quality pieces, don't loose any sleep over it, I'm working on getting a game used Urlacher jersey. It's not going to be $7,000 but to each his own.

It's sad to see a well respected collector take things personally and start a personal attack on another forum member. What saddens me the most is your basic failure to read and comprehend what is read. You see, in the text you quoted, mickeymbz was complaining about something that happened on eBay with some buyer low-balling him on his Hester jersey. I don't know what he was offered but it sounds like it was a really low offer. Another forum member suggested that mickeymbz hang on to his jersey and I agreed as well as telling him to unload it right after Hester scores his first or second return for touchdown which will maximize his sale price!

OMG! I had to go through my eBay folder on the mail server just to figure out what you're talking about! Here's the story for those interested:

I made 3 inquiries on 3 different Hester jerseys on eBay at the time. All were listed at the same or near the price JO offered me a slew of their Hesters for. I asked all 3 sellers what their bottom line price was. Two sellers replied with their numbers and were willing to budge but not enough for me to make a deal. Third seller, Mickey***** did not give me his price and instead asked what I would offer him. I threw out an initial offer of $1,000 expecting the seller to counter me and possibly meet in the middle and make a deal. Instead I got a response that started with: "go fck yourself...cheap fuock...." (Copied from the e-mail verbatim)

I know the seller spent $3,000 on this Hester and I feel for him. His A$$ must still be burning but reality and the market is what it is.

Market spoke a little while ago when Ron was able to get a better Hester with a patch for $1,500 from NFL Actions!!! We all can agree that that's the top retail price!

That's why I didn't realize this clown was referring to me since I didn't offer him a few hundred bucks for it...

I don't come on here telling you how to make your points don't tell me how to make mine. You should mind your own business as Samets & I don't need your help sorting anything out.

I have no personal issues with you Rusty & hold no grudges nor do I really care what anyone chooses to collect or not collect if it makes you happy. What I didn't appreciate were a couple of your comments on another thread which were down grading my last 3-NFL Auctions purchases.

You can say you were just expressing your opinions well I was doing the same did you appreciate my raw opinions on the hobby? I'm as passionate about my collection as you are of yours.

My opinion is Bear past/present Star Players have been underselling 40-50% on NFL Auctions lately while You believe they have been overselling so I guess time will tell who is correct in their assessment of values.

Regardless I'm completely satisfied with Everything I have purchased along with its current/future value in the last couple of years.

I am minding my own business, you've chosen to have your little pissing contest in a public forum. If you don't want to hear what I have to say, then don't post this kind of crap on the boards.

I come here to look at sports memorabilia and learn a bit about the hobby. I shouldn't have to put up with your attempts to belittle other collectors because they either choose not to or don't have the means to acquire a jersey collection of your magnitude.

What did he think if anything of you and collectors having access to these jerseys?

I'm sure the jerseys mean even more with the personal relationship behind it.

Congrats again & thanks for sharing the story.

Thanks. He told me he gives away majority of jerseys to those who had a major contribution in his career. I asked him about his Super Bowl jerseys and he stated he gave his panthers to his High school CB coach and the bears Super Bowl jersey to his father.

Was at a charity event last night and won a pair of Robbie Gould's cleats. He was there and confirmed they were his and used...I found style matches, but a photo match will be tough (there is a distinct mark though). Gould is the #2 scorer in Bears history, and has a shot at being #1. Love having a pair of his cleats in my collection!

Saw the preview on the auction site. Looks great! It's going to get a pretty penny for the consignor. Was the consignor from here? Just curious...

I'm more concerned with the buyer! I don't want it cut up for some special insert by the card companies...

Kinda cool...

I own the 1972 Cyril Pinder from the Chicago Bears days and recently found a 1974 Chicago Fire WFL uniform...

The man was a traveler:

1968-1970 with Philadelphia Eagles
1971-1972 with Chicago Bears
1973 with Dallas Cowboys
1974 with Chicago Fire (WFL)

Just for historical purposes:

7/20/2013 Goldin Auction's 2005 Urlacher sold for $2,600 + juice ($2,990 total)

Congrats to it's new owner for a great score!

Urlacher jersey pricing is volatile and prices are all over the place. That's what happens when there are so many Jerseys of one player to hit the market. My last one that I owned had originated from NFL Auctions and it sold for $5000, $2200, $3500 and most recently at auction for @$1300....Who knows what Auctions bring?......RARELY A HIDDEN RESERVE THOUGH!

I was bidding on the orange one (and obviously many others on here were looking at it also). It went for right @ what I thought it would go for. He is a Great player, but just like many before him, his prices should drop or level off as new superstars arise in the league......Its just a fact of modern day collecting and the supply available to purchase.

Lol. Hey Bears fans. Just curious.. Have any Nike 54 shirts ever hit auction or open market? And are they rarer/go for more money? I'm a huge Nike gamer guy (love the quality over reebok) and would love to try to obtain one this season if one comes up.

hey everybody!

I own two international jerseys from the bears when the played the buccaneers in london. Dom DeCicco #58 and Brian Iwuh #52 ...they both have nfl auction certificates.

When i looked closely, something caught my eye.
i understand that the tag in the collar means, 'year, size'

now this.... #58 Dom DeCicco is tagged 09-48 and #52 Brian Iwuh is tagged 11-48 but they are from the same game. the screened stripes on the sleeves from DeCicco one (according the tag, the oldest) feels allot harder and is way more cracked then the other one. Is it a regular thing that some jerseys have different years on the tags in one game?

It will vary team by team but it is very common. They wear whatever is next off the shelf.....even if the years are different.

That said, most International jerseys I have seen were "1 game wonders" with tags from the year of the game.

Bears do grab whatever jersey is next.

I have several jerseys from that game and one is tagged 08 which is photomatched. You have nothing to worry about.

I have not seen one hit the market. There have been a few Hesters and Davis jerseys plus McClellin and a few others but not an Urlacher.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the Nike jerseys... I do own one and it just feels wrong when compared to decades of gamers before it.

Agreed....don't like the Nike's very much. They are so stiff, they can almost stand by themselves.

Why does NFL Auctions determine the going rate? You can't just pick one site and use that as the "going rate." I feel that just about every items sold on NFL auctions sells significantly higher than it would elsewhere.

Come on guys, get along. We are all brothers of the same fraternity. No need for bickering. Just enjoy that football is here, and that you guys have the common interest of being bears fans. Who cares about what someone paid. If its an item that makes them happy than let them pay w.e they desire.

Peholse did you win that beauty? That is the nicest Bears jersey I've seen to date. I need it in my collection asap.

Because there are no other Nike Bears Lachers gamers. So since its one of the only ones sold, NFL auctions is the only going rate to judge. And I'd say that w/e the final hammer was on it when it sold, that it doubled in value by now easily.

Actually, I was referring to Urlacher jerseys in general, but I agree, that's the only nike gamer I've seen as well.

Palehose agreed that a 5 year 4 star photo-matched Urlacher is a very rare and high end item. (I'm not talking about the uncommon issued jerseys/ no document/ photo-match jerseys). Thats being a little harsh as to calling the people who try to obtain one for cheaper than the going rate bottom feeders dreaming of a big score. I just look at them as die hard Urlacher fans who want to try to obtain there football hero and icon for an affordable middle class price. Because we know if you have to ask what the price is than most likely the item is not for that person. But nothing wrong with trying to obtain for cheaper. It won't happen (and again I'm talking a real 5 year Urlacher Nike with paper work and photo match) but you can't fault the fan for trying. At least I can't.

You are the Urlacher king, and know pretty much more than anyone on final hammer prices and yearly price inflation than anyone on this board. (I'll go out on a limb to state it). I would view 5,000$ as an extreme fair price, and if I could find a Nike Urlacher like what you posted I would pay over that. Just because I want a jersey from his final year, I love the 5 year captain, and Nike jerseys are my favorite jersey maker (details and stretch twill are so unique)

The BS politics aside hard truth is any business or private owner who isn't desperado isn't going to sell the Top Urlacher jerseys from the past couple of years for less than they paid to anyone of the handful of Angry Bottom Feeders in the industry Dreaming of a Big Score @ someones expense cause they didn't want and/or couldn't step up (Its not for everyone nor personal, strictly business).

Feels like there are two collectors doing replies from the same account...

How do you go from this:

If we are getting historical on this jersey all that anyone from the outside looking in knows is that the hammer price was $2,990.

Does Goldin Auctions allow sellers to put reserves on consignments? I personally don't know but most Auction Houses do.

Maybe there wasn't a reserve on this lot (none of my business & I don't really care) but until proven otherwise I would find it hard to believe that a consigner of a potential $4,500-$6000 jersey would not have some type of protection put in place from their item under performing.

If talking about premium value this jersey was potentially hurt by:
1. Not having a captains patch
2. Being washed & showing minimal remaining game wear (This jersey pre-dates being able to purchase unwashed Bears jerseys displaying off the field wear)
3. Game stats
4. Not displaying a custom hem (Not that big of a deal but I prefer to see it)
5. The # of remaining potential Bears/Urlacher buyers who can afford and/or are willing to purchase a high end item

All & all the results were disappointing for this alternate jersey with it being such a super rare quality jersey from the Bears future HOFer & possibly their best linebacker of all-time.

to the post above???
One post you are a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to exchange with, next thing you know, it's angry bottom feeders???

Im just stating that there are roughly 30% at best, high end, quality urlacher gamers out there when you factor in use, stats, and patches. They are rare and expensive finds as you dont see too many hit the open market, almost never, what you do see alot of are either questionable, issued or light to almost no wear gamers of his that under sell, since most collectors who covet an urlacher gamer want one as described above... Am i right or wrong? Most people that have these top notch gamers dont give them up, as you havent seen many if any hit the secondary market? The other 70% of his jerseys are either chopped up and put into cards or are owned for a significant discount, since all the great ones were gobbled up right out of the starting gate, and will most likely stay in private collectors hands forever, pending some unforseen circumstance. There are only a handful of Urlacher collectors and Urlacher himself who own the best of the best gamers out there. It's a true fact. For people that were asleep at the wheel and decided not to anty up, im sorry to say that there are not many out there for sale now that he has retired and maybe too late to acquire one with all of the mentioned qualities... If you want a great use gamer of his be prepared to pay atleast 5k, thats all im saying. Dont hold your breath and think a blue light special discount is in your future.... Be Well!!!

Here's where I respectfully disagree with you.

Not all collectors have the same requirements for a game used jersey as you do. Some don't care about the stats, patches, or game use. You assume you are speaking for most Urlacher game used collectors, but I don't see how that's possible.

The orange alternate showed plenty of game use despite being washed, the captain patch didn't exist until 2 years later, and many of Urlacher's GU weren't hemmed before 2007.

An auction is an auction, I don't think anyone got that jersey on the cheap. The price is a market price at the time of the auction, plain and simple. Are there factors that contribute to that, sure, but the hammer price is what it is.

I understand you prefer what you prefer, more power to you. Many collectors don't share the same preferences you do, that's the beauty of collecting.
