I went to BP Sports in Atlanta yesterday and they had 2 Andruw Jones game used bats and they both had "25" written on the knob. I didn't check the weight though

Geoff,

I've owned more than 20 Andruw bats over the years, all from the Braves, John Taube, or Steiner (yes, Steiner had one), including a couple of his W.S. bats. Every one had a very worn 25 on the bottom. From what I've seen (and I'm sure there are LOTS of Andruw bats that I have not seen), he has been religious about putting his number on the knob and, to a lesser degree, his handle tape. He also has tended to use his bats quite a bit before letting them go (even his W.S. bats). Again, this is based on the ones I've seen and owned.

Yeah, it's a sports store, they mostly sell autographs but sometimes they'll get game used. I didn't check if they were from ASI but he was asking $495 for each bat

The bat he described is just like the ones I saw: number on the knob, tape on the handle, and it was noticably used a lot with ball marks everywhere.

Like Reid, I have owned many Jones bats. Every one without exception had Jones' #25 on the knob end and his typical tape job (black bat with black grip tape and some white athletic tape to hold the black tape down at the top of the handle). Just for reference, I have a 2003 Sam bat that is 34" in length and marked 30.4 ounces.

Thats what the 2005 SAM bat has also but just not his 25.I am thinking a practice bat.I emailed the seller and he told me he bought the bat from ASI.I will post a few pics in a few days.

If he bought it from ASI then it should have holograms on the bat & COA. Plus sometimes I've seen some of Andruws bat from ASI come with a COA signed by him too.

Marcus, what happened to your website? Didnt you have gamebatstore.com? You still selling bats? You had a nice site going there.

Robert,

I didn't devote the time to it that it deserved so I pulled the plug last week. I still have some bats available that aren't part of my personal collection, and will be posting them in the next few months. I also decided that it is much more enjoyable to focus on the hobby from a collector's standpoint. I am still heavily involved in researching pre-WWII game bats, and am contemplating a new information-only website of my findings and collection.

Here's A Good Pic Of The Knob Of His Bat. You Can Clearly See "25" Written (it's the only one i could find that shows the knob of his bat). btw- That's a really sweet bat you got! I couldn't find any pics though of him using a Sam Bat. I looked through all his 2005 pics on getty and could only find him using LS bats.
