What's with the Feagles jersey on NFL auctions?

This jersey is game issued from the 2009 season with the pink captains patch, my only question is why would they issue him a 17 jersey since he has not worn that number since 2004 before Plax arrived?

Great question?? Maybe someone has a good answer for that? Now I'm no Giants jersey expert, but their jerseys seem to be different than any jersey I've seen this year. The mesh of the jersey just looks like a honeycomb pattern. I'm probably describing this incorrectly, but something seems different on them. I also have noticed that none of the Giants jerseys have nameplates this year. I've tried to include pics to show what I'm talking about, as I'm probably not very clear in what I'm trying to spit out.

Here is a pic of the odd mesh in the jersey...

And I don't see a nameplate on the 2009 jerseys, unless I'm seeing things?

Some players on the Packers are wearing those style jerseys. I know Chillar and Finley wear them and there's a few others too. The reebok logo on the side is printed rather than stiched on those jerseys.

It's a new cut with new fabric from Reebok that is being prototyped this year. I believe all the Giants are using them, as are a few other players (Chillar and Finley on the Packers, Adai on the Colts among a couple of others).

Here's a link on them from Lukas's ESPN Uniwatch column:

Reebok and the NFL are using a new jersey fabric they want kept secret. Maybe because it looks awful.

This is what makes this thread awesome! I had no idea that those were prototype jerseys? So I wasn't going crazy afterall!!?? But back to the thread at hand...what's with a Feagles #17 jersey? And what year is this from? And how can the Giants have a game issued Pierce pink captain's patch jersey from 2009, and have it be a different fabric/jersey than they wear on the field??

So it's from 2009, but its the wrong fabric, wrong number, and bad nameplate? How can this be game issued from 2009, and have all of these faults? Like you said, he hasn't worn this number since 2004. Only problem with that, is they didn't wear this style away (white) jersey in 2004.

Hmm I don't get what they are doing with the Giants jerseys, where are the ones they actually wore in the games? They would go for huge money so why only auction the supposed back up ones. Back on topic though: http://www.nflauction.nfl.com/cgi-bi...unbr=111717472 This is another recent auction for a number 17 Feagles game issued jersey on there. My thought is that the jerseys were a manufacturer's error and that is why he never wore them in a game. If you recall Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman this year played several innings with Nationals misspelled on their jerseys before anyone noticed it so errors do happen.

The fact is, why would this jersey even be issued to Feagles when it's the wrong jersey model and number? To me it looks nothing more than an authentic jersey that anyone can buy with a pink 3 year captain patch sewn on it. I wish NFL would elaborate more on this jersey because something doesn't seem kosher.
