Hey, all. I've had this beauty for awhile but just haven't gotten around to posting it. I've been perusing the boards for quite some time now and finally decided to jump in to the world of game used memorabilia this past summer.

We had some damaging forest fires here last year and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans had a fund raiser for those who lost their homes. I managed to pick up this cracked autographed game used Jason Heyward Marucci for $110. I think that is a decent deal but being new to the game used world, I am not sure. Anyway, take a look and tell me what you think. Enjoy.

Nice bat. Isn't Heyward supposed to have a lot of hype as top prospect.

Hopefully Heyward makes it on the Opening Day lineup. I'm the same age as him, and seeing him in person makes me feel like a midget. He's going to be doing big things in his future.

Are the Braves just completely giving up on Jordan Schafer and what about Gregor Blanco, is he out of the Braves plans? I assume they are completely done with Brandon Jones?

Right now on the mlb roster they have Gregor Blanco, Melky Cabrera, Matt Diaz, Brandon Jones, Nate McLouth, and Jordan Schafer. That is not including the thread this is about JAYSON HEYWARD! I am curious to see who there outfiels starters are, as well as who is going to be optioned to Triple A at the beginning of the season.

Sorry to drift off, but I think Blanco is going to end up like Josh Anderson he will be moved to another team just before the start of the season.

Pick up looks even better after his first game.

Yes it does and I think Heyward is the real deal, but let's remember Jordan Schafer from 2009. He had a game to remember in his first MLB game with a homer in his first AB for the Braves, and now he's sustained an injury and will more than likely toil around in the minors.

Schafer and Heyward have very little in common aside from good opening days. Schafer's strikeout rate has always been horrible. In the minor leagues Schafer struck out nearly once a game and we saw that translate into more than once a game at the pro level. A speed guy who cannot get on base is a waste, Schafer was overrated. Heyward has always made solid contact, striking out just over once every 2 games and for his minor league career he only struck out at a 24% higher rate than he walked (105 Walks to 138 Strikeouts) IMO Schafer was never the answer, Heyward may not be the next Griffey or McGriff or whoever else they're comparing him to but I certainly don't see him spending any more time with Schafer in the minors (unless he's injured of course)

as bill parcells would say lets not put him in the hof yet. alot of top prospects especially outfielders show flashes but never become stars. look at rocco baldelli, delmon young, lastings, austin kearns, alex escobar, brian anderson, felix pie, corey patterson, wily mo pena, jeremy hermedia. or at other positions alex gordon and andy marte. all were at one point labeled as top prospects and future stars who never quite lived up to anywhere near that billing.

I'm pretty sure most scouts have projected Heyward MUCH higher than those guys you named. Heyward is a special player, not just an outfielder with hype. Barring injury, he will be a very productive player. I agree that we shouldn't jump the gun and expect that he will be a 500HR slugger who makes it to Cooperstown, but I don't think anyone in baseball expects this guy to flop.

And for the record, Heyward has more plate discipline than any of those players you mentioned.
