I've updated pages on my Web site with information on dating bats (both H&B and Rawlings) since 1980. Feel free to review these pages and let me know if there's anything I need to change in terms of date ranges, specific characteristics or whatever. I'm especially wanting to know if I have the right information for Rawlings during the 1995-98 era -- I don't have any bats from this era when a few changes were made, so I need to ensure the date ranges are correct. Thanks in advance for your input.

Here's the 1980-current H&B page: http://webpages.charter.net/birdbats/Birdbats/Bat%20ID/LS%201980-Current.htm

Here's the 1980-current Rawlings page: http://webpages.charter.net/birdbats/Birdbats/Bat%20ID/AD%201980-Current.htm

Just curious on my observation. Here is a Thome bat on ebay said to be from 1995. I notice that it says "Made in USA" in small letterings.

here the link.

the "Made in USA" lettering is also on Tony's (3arod13) 1996 Rawlings bat.

Good catch. Maybe as a group we can figure out when MADE IN USA was added to that centerbrand.

Jeff,

The 87-89 Rawlings center brand started late in 86. The 1986 World Series game bats had the 87-89 center brands on them too.

Here are 5 Rawlings regular season bats with the 87-89 Rawlings center brands which are from 1986

The knobs are stamped as follows:

Stanley Jefferson 225B 389 6
Ed Hearn 460B 388 6
Ed Hearn 460B 388 6
John Gibbons 470B 388 6

Thanks

OK, I've changed the Rawlings info -- the 1987-89 section is now the 1986-89 section... and the 1990-96 section now includes a reference to MADE IN USA beginning in 1993. Keep the input coming. Thanks!

Thanks, Joel. If it was yours, I was just going to ask if you had additional photos or if it was available. It looks like a neat bat.

Sorry, Jeff, don't mean to hijack your thread.

Thanks, guys. I cut and pasted a photo of one of the 1993 MADE IN USA labels and uploaded it to the site.

Please keep the information coming. Any thoughts on that 1996-97 AD center brand or the 1997 AD center brand? Those are the ones I'm least sure about. Also, if you have a better photo of either logo, I'd appreciate you sharing it. The ones I'm using now are screen grabs from eBay auctions, so they're not that great.

Great site! Any idea how I can get Adirondack shipping records for a particular player? I have a Morgan 71-79 bat that I would love to find out when he ordered this bat. I'm having a REALLY hard time photomatching or even STYLE matching it.

Old Adirondack shipping records are very tough to acquire, assuming they exist at all. I wouldn't get my hopes up... but you could always write to Bill Steele at Rawlings and ask him. I'd wait until summer because this is their busiest time of the year. Bill is more likely to respond once production dies down.

Thank you so much for the advice. I'll do it this summer when production slows down a bit. I'll let you know if I find out anything.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi,
Could someone please tell me a website that has an explanation of different bat manufacturers yearly labeling. I used to have one in my favorites but my computer crashed and I can't remember it. Thanks for your help.
