Miguel Tejada Jersey Question

I own two Tejada jerseys (Athletics and Orioles). But have been cut in the front (No front flap). I am told that was his preference. Any ideas about this?

I've seen a couple of Tejadas that exhibited the same tail trim. I do not believe it is a deal-breaker.
