Question about SAM bats

What is it that makes a SAM bat so popular with collectors?I have heard everything from they are so hard to break hence players don't part with them to SAM is used by many major league all stars.Opinions?

I thought that they were more popular a few years ago, probably because they were new, and they look cool. Personally, i think they have one of the most displayable logos (although Reaper bats rule, and I've never seen a gamer for sale!)

First of all they look very good. They're supposed to be made of hard wood and not break as much. I have a Shane Spencer SAM Met bat and it's cracked at the handle-because-the players all shave the handle down as thin as possible. This makes them lighter,faster and easier to break.Even I could break it over my leg if I had to.
