Guys, first one of his minor league jerseys is on sale. A pink jersey from mother's day, when he pitched the 6 inning no hitter... I was gonna keep it a secret but the bidding war is already starting. Guesses for the final price? Im going with 2,400.

Bobby...

I think it will go for twice that much easy. If Matt Wieters jersey can bring in 2400 then I think Strasburg will bring in more. I'll go with $5,600. All it's gonna take is two people with deep pockets and a lot of desire and skies the limit. Strasburg might appeal to those who can afford Yankees world series jerseys from Steiner  It will be interesting to see what it closes at.

Hard to believe a guy who hasn't made a single Major League start would command such a premium. It's all speculation until he actually does something in the bigs.

If you want a good investment of a young pitcher try to locate anything related to Jimenez of the Rockies or Tim Linceum. Those guys have actually done something in the bigs and look like they will do much, much more. Stratsburg stuff besides the unproven factor is way too high even if he were a superstar right now. After he plays for awhile and more and more stuff hits the market even if he is dynamite prices will drop.

AMEN ! Linceum is a great investment. And Jimenez is having an amazing year. And in Colorado of all places ! You make a great point about his prices dropping EVEN if he does something in the bigs. I'm not saying he won't be a great pitcher. Who knows! I just think it's ridiculous to pay that premium for an unproven player.

I must say earlier today I scoffed at the prices this kid's stuff was going for, and that he never did anything in the bigs. Well, after seeing highlights of his 14 K debut: Holy Crap!!!!! The movement this guy gets on his pitches in INCREDIBLE ! Sure looks like the real deal ! But still way too early to pay 3-4K for one of his minor league jerseys !

As Bill Parcells would say lets not put him in the Hall of Fame yet. Yes it was extremely impressive but then so was Kerry Wood's 20k game in his rookie year and that was not exactely a harbinger of greatness. Plus he was facing the Pirates. Some of the lineups he faced in the minors may have been stronger. Lastings Milledge hits third which pretty much sums it up.

I've been active on MLB auctions from day one and do not ever recall an item from a game being listed four hours after the game ended.

I think that's what you'd call striking while the iron is hot. Gotta move this stuff before he faces the Phillies I guess.

I wonder how many foul balls were hit in the game??

mlb auction description

You are bidding on an autographed game-used baseball that was used in Stephen Strasburg's major league debut on 6/8/10 (Pittsburgh Pirates @ Washington Nationals). This one of a kind baseball was used in a pitch to Garrett Jones at the top of the 2nd for a strikeout which was the second career K for Strasburg. This baseball has been signed and inscribed by Stephen Strasburg on the sweet spot with triple insription below "MLB Debut, 14Ks, 1st MLB Win".

Amazing how a historic one-of-a-kind item like an early minor league jersey worn by a superstar phenom can be worth in the ballpark of $2K yet a "rare" baseball card of the same guy sells for 16 thousand dollars and change earlier the same week. Something is seriously wrong with this picture.

the point is not how many were hit but how many are verifitable. Anybody can say a ball was hit into the stands and they ended up with it but who can prove it? You cannot photomatch it. Only the MLB hologrammed ones can be proven.

I don't get it, if the guy wins only 275 games, you will all have LOST MONEY. Hype sells stuff way too much.

You can get a Greg MAddux Rookie card for liek $4-$5 and he will probably have more wins that Strasburg in his career
