I'm not an autograph expert by any stretch, but does anyone else think the Wagner auto in lot# 995 of REA's last auction looks strange? REA had a few Wagners, including the photo below. They look totally different to me. Anyone else?

Here's the weird Wagner:

Here's one that looks more typical to me:

Looks fine to me. Looking at past auctions looks like Honus had acouple different autographs.

The vintage autograph market is rife with secretarials and forgeries. It is impossible for anyone to defintely sort through it. Cut items like index cards are often forged because they are cheap and it is impossible to tell their age. My advice to any collector is to stick to legal documents and checks when dealing with autographs of stars who passed away before the autograph era. The autographs in question imo were NOT signed by the same person. The index card appears to be a forgery.

The index card signature does not match Wagner's known signatures up to the 1930's.

The Wagner is actually a very typical "late in life" signature. I know it looks very different than earlier signatures, but looks to be 100% authentic to me.
