My major concern is the size...Griffey was a 46 early in his career, going up to 48s a few years or more after this jersey's 1990 tag date. It also looks like the tag stitching is thicker on the tag side than on the other three edges...POSSIBLE tag tampering, although the image is not sharp enough to say conclusively.

I've seen two rookie era 1989 jerseys (Rawlings) and both were size 46. One jersey was direct from Coast To Coast. I don't believe (as Dave mentioned) that Junior began wearing a size 48 until the late 1990's.

ah, not exactly a vote of confidence. griffeyfan, do you remember what the '89 jersey's went for?

what's your opinion on the amount of 'wear' on the jersey in question?

I did alot of research and haven't seen anything other than size 46 jerseys for his early career, I would stay away.

This is probably the worst time to buy Griffey stuff as people are taking advantage of his retirement and collectors who want to grab something now since the amount of Griffey GU stuff in existance is no forever frozen and no NEW stuff will ever be available. For us GU collectors retirement is like the death of a player to autograph collectors. The already slim market will dry up as people horde it into their collections so it will be more challenging then ever to snag something authentic. Plus right now is also probably the most this stuff will ever be worth. The HOF induction is a foregone conclusion and won't effect values much and as he fades from the news prices will drop.
