    Wartime Yankee hurler dies

Ken Holcombe, a MLB pitcher who played for 5 teams over 6 seasons, died March 15. He was 91.

Holcome pitched in 3 games for the 1945 Yankees, made a cameo appearance with the Reds in 1948, and spent most of his best days in the Majors with the White Sox (1950-52). He was 11-12 in 28 games for the Chisox in 1951, 23 of which were starts. He was dealt to the Browns during '52 and finished up with the Red Sox in '53.

Holcombe also was depicted on a baseball card in the scarce and high demand 1949 Bowman PCL set.
