Jack Tatum, hard-hitting Oakland Raiders DB of the 1970s, long in poor health, died of a heart attack today at age 61.
Tatum's accomplishments on the field will always be overshadowed, however, by the crushing hit he delivered on Patriots WR Darryl Stingley in the 1978 preseason. The hit left Stingley confined to a wheelchair until his death in 2007.
