Ok, Lets See Your Ivan Rodriguez Bats!! I'll Start W/ Some Of Mine...i Wish I Would Have Started Years Ago On His Bats!! I'll Post More Every Now & Then As I Take Photos Of More Of His Bats That I Have...maybe Even Brian (bmh) Can Add To This Thread As It Goes Along...pudge Is Noted As Probably The Player That Orders More Bats Than Anyone...so There Should Be A Lot Out There To See. I Like That Hes Mainly A Louisville Slugger Guy, Though I've Seen Him W/ Every Bat You Could Think Of...the Photos Posted Are A Signed 2003 Game Used World Series Bat, A Cracked Bat From Strasburgs First Game (a Single, Career Hit Number 2753) & A Bat From Every Team Hes Played For Except The Yankees...

Funny story, about 2 and a half seasons ago at a baseball show signing Pudge was there. I collect Yankees autographs but so wanted a Pudge auto but I couldnt pull the trigger and said to myself damn with his career why couldnt the Yankees have picked him up so I could of added him to my bat???

(I have one bat loaded with Yankees auto's)

I was seriously considering jumping the gun and getting the auto on the bat anyway with hopes maybe in the future the Yankees will pick him up. Then I said to myself "NO WAY" "THE YANKEES WILL NEVER PICK HIM UP" "NO WAY WILL HE EVER WANT TO PLAY SECOND FIDDLE TO POSADA" "POSADA AND HIM ARE LIKE THE ARCH RIVALS OF THERE PEAKS IN BASEBALL" "NOT GONNA HAPPEN"

Sure enough about 3 to 4 months later in a late season aquiring the Yankees picked up Pudge as a back up to Posada.

As you can imagine a huge "SMH" to myself lol:D

Here's my Pudge bat, which I photomatched to a couple spring training games this year. The handle is covered in pine tar and the bat is hammered with use. I can even make out an MLB logo on the bat from a ball transfer. Love it. Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest. I need to update my camera.

Andrew, that Pudge catchers gear is VERY cool. :D

Thanks so much. I will photograph the mask too. I have some great photomatches since the Nike swoosh on the mask is blacked out (Pudge is a Wilson catchers gear player).

Also, the black bat was cracked by Adam Dunn. I am fairly certain that both Pudge and Adam used the bat. I thank Dale for research on that.

Here are some items from Pudge's time in Houston.

2009 Road Grey Jersey
The jersey was the one issued and worn by Pudge following his record setting 2,227 Games Caught on 6/17/2009. The Road Grey jersey he wore that night was collected and donated to the HOF. This Road Grey was made as a replacement and worn until he changed from #12 to #77.

(2) 2009 LVS Bats
The two tone brown bat is dated 3/20/2009 on the knob. This was the same date that Pudge was signed by the Astros as a free agent. This bat was from the first batch with "HOUSTON ASTROS" on the barrel.

The two tone black maple bat is dated 5/8/2009. The bat was cracked 7/28/2009 versus the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

2009 Catcher and Batting Helmets
This is catcher's helmet used by Pudge prior to the switch to #77

The batting helmet was used by Pudge to hit his 300th Home Run in Chicago on 5/17/2009.

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, obviously his stint here in Houston was short so you will never see a lot of his Astros items. I saw a lot of Pudge bats used by other guys in 2009, especially Tejada. Even Berkman and Lee used his maple bats in BP from time to time. I really wonder how many bats he uses compared to how many he orders.

I have a bat that is from I believe 1999 because the MLB logo is by the name but it doesn't have ANY pine tar except a little bit about halfway up the bat in one little area. And it doesn't have many ball marks except a few LITTLE scuffs and pudge signed the bat Ivan Rodriguez "game use". So I was wondering what you guys thought. Like did he usually put pine tar on his bats in 1999? And also did his bats from then usually have much use?

Its so hard to be able to tell who actually used an older bat...when it comes to Pudge, he's all over the place. I've seen his bats taped (high and low), have pine tar, have tape and tar, have nothing....hes been so inconsistent....

I don't know much about asi. What is it?

ASI sold a lot of Pudge's bats and gear when he was with the Texas Rangers.

I think ASI was known as Authenticated Sports Investments when they were selling Pudge's items and run by a guy named Scot Monette.

Been awhile since I updated this Pudge bat thread...here's a few I've picked up lately....A couple home run bats, one from the Marlins in 2003 & one from Washington this year...Plus, the one in the middle may be one of my favorite bats...it was used by Pudge opening day this season, for his 2500th game & 20th straight opening day start!! I have to thank Andrew big time for the Pudge Nationals bats (& helmets)!! The opening day bat is a great story, a bat I had hoped to get, lost hope....then by fate he ended up cracking it!! He signed it opening day/2500th game on the side of barrell too ....anyways.....here they are..........

In the world of Game Used material, sometimes you are lucky enough to encounter a player collector with the integrity and value to our hobby that mimics their players contribution to the sport.

If he owned a collection of Pudge's game used material unrivaled by Ivan himself, Dale's value to this hobby would eclipse it. As a long time player collector at (seemingly) the end of my players career, I can only hope to be considered the TigerDale of Salo material.

Dale has a great collection! I'm envious because I have a Pudge bat from every team he played with except the Astros. I actually do have an LVS that was photo matched to a bat he used with the Astros, but it doesn't have the team name on the barrel. Saw what we thought was his last game with the Rangers in 2002 (was quoted in the Ft Worth paper the next day when a reporter happened to stop me because I was wearing a Pudge jersey) and was at the 2003 sixth game of the WS when at Yankee Stadium when he finally won a Championship when the Rangers stupidly sent him packing the year before because they thought he was over the hill. By pure luck was at the game where he broke the record for most game caught by a catcher and plan to be at the Rangers game tomorrow when he officially retires. I'm glad the Rangers are honoring him. Unlike a lot of players he came up with the Rangers and tried to stay with them. He gave the Rangers a home team discount in the middle 90's so they could re-sign him. Then they let him go in 2002. Career wise that was the best thing that could have happened to him because he won a World Series with the Marlins the next year and an American League championship and WS appearance with the Tigers several years later while the Rangers were at or near the bottom of the league. So its fitting they honor him now.

Hi, I dont have handy the variations of the Xbat trademark to narrow it down that way. Looking at the bat, it has the tigers bat weight code marked on both ends, so that puts it in the 2004 to 2008 time frame (when pudge was in Detroit). Also, the sticker on the knob in the photo you sent me is ASI. I believe ASI became Elite in 2006 (I have a pudge 2006 bat w/ an elite sticker). So, to me, this narrows the bat down to a 2004 or 2005 timeframe. I have seen pudge use Xbat before. He was a big Louisville guy, but that being said.....I think I have seen a pudge bat in just about every bat brand out there. I hope this helps some.

Ive gone out & looked at a few old 2004 photos & it looked like in 2004 Xbat had its older trademark...so maybe your bat has a good chance to be a 2005...that would be my best guess........

Picked up this cool block letter Louisville Slugger. Ive seen the "Pudge" name on many different brands of bats of his, but for a Louisville its very rare. I'm happy to add it to my collection. He signed his Louisville contract in 1995, so most all after that were script. I found a few images of his using this style"Pudge Rodriguez" in early 1998. Anyways, was happy to add it to the collection...

Pudge MLB authenticated bats are tough to come by, let alone early in the authentication years. This cracked 2006 MLB authenticated bat is one of my favorites! 2006 was a special season for Tiger fans!
