    Mike Piazza Louisville Slugger

Hi, I'm looking for a little information on this bat. I purchased it via eBay, as a Piazza "rookie" era bat. What do you guys think? The price was $400.00 for those pricing similar items. It is 34" and 33 oz. Thank you for your opinions. -W

Thanks, but no, not much help there. Mike was a rookie in 92-3, and if you look at my pictures, I believe this bat labeling is pre 1990. Anyone??

Actually the link should have made things very clear, Mike Piazza did not place an order for Louisville Slugger bat until 1992 and he ordered 12 P72 model bats. The link was to a post from the guy who works for Louisville Slugger. He has records of every bat ordered by the players. There should not be any pre-90 Piazza bats.

The bat has 86-89 "Louisville Slugger registered trademark symbol" under Piazza's block letter name. In 1989 Piazza was in the minor leagues in Salem. He also played for various Dodger minor league affiliates from 1990-1992.

This bat could be a minor league bat or it could be a show bat that was made for autographs in my opinion.

Perhaps Brian has records on how many pre 1992 bats were produced for game use for Piazza.

If there were no Piazza orders prior to 1992 as Brian indicated then it could mean 1) minor league orders are not tracked but could still possibley be a minor league bat or 2) this is not a pro model bat but a souvenir bat

Looks like an early minor league bat due to the lack of "dodgers" on the barrel.
