There was a quick mention about this in Bob Raissman's sports media column in today's New York Daily News. Thought it was an interesting tidbit. Wish I heard the whole thing...
Moving glove story
Many baseball TV analysts have become so bogged down in statistics, and breaking down the game on a technical basis (arm angles, bat speed, blah, blah, blah), they have forgotten about simple things - like storytelling.
That's why it was refreshing Wednesday night (Mets-Reds) - and unique - to hear SNY's Keith Hernandez go into an extended rap about baseball gloves. He talked about how many (two) he used during a season and other quirks players have when it comes to taking care of their mitts.
Simple but interesting stuff. Certainly more entertaining than some yutz analyzing on-base percentages.
