Office Display room taken over by baby on the way (Due at the end of November). I got laid off on Thursday, so I spent my first day of unemployment getting the new display room ready. Here it is! Let me know what you think. This is the loft/landing on the 2nd story at the top of the stairs. Entire collection is items from players from the 2005 NL Championship team. Always looking for bats I don't have!

Awesome Stro's stuff, what kind of rack/wall mount did you use to hang your bats? I am thinking about making the switch from bat tubes to something similar to that.

Great display!

Great display!

The bat racks are individual bat holders. They are the acrylic vertical bat holders as seen on ebay for about $5 each. They work great, and blend in very well.

My wife works for a museum exhibit design company and they can make those cases with museum quality fabrics, glass, etc. They are not cheap (like $500-$750) but they display really nicely and are literally used in museums like the HOF. I have one that they are working on now. I can put you in touch with the shop that does their fabrication if anyone is interested. Nice cases for high-end stuff are hard to come by and I like having these types of custom cases where you can display multiple items and rotate them.

Good luck with the construction Konerko- be sure to post the finished product! Hope it turns out well.

I would be interested in a case like that I have been looking but can not seem to find one for sale or online anywhere. Can anyone help?

I cut down my bookcases and was able to add 116 more spaces for bats. The slots I created are 2 deep so I can stack doubles. Now I have room for about 600 bats in my room.

man, spectacular stuff guys! btw nefan, the "grogan" helmet you mentioned in another post might be brian dowling's helmet given the date code - and assuming the numbers, helmet model and team decal size is correct, haven't taken a close look. but at first blush it looks like a nice helmet/gamer, regardless of the facemask sitch (facemasks are never a red flag or big deal for me unless it's stated that it's original to the helmet - many vintage gamers come without facemasks and collectors often just add one, even if it's not the right model, because they think it completes the helmet)....

UGA016-

While our teams have quite the rivalry, I can honestly say that you have an amazing collection of UGA gamers. Do you collect only college items or do you follow your players into the pro's and collect that stuff as well?

UGA016
05-01-2011, 05:37 AM
UT_Vols_Collector I prefer to collect UGA items only. I have owned a couple of NFL items before. I did have a Matthew Stafford Home Rookie Signed Gamer from 2009. If the right piece came up I might consider. I have found that the NFL items are alot easier to obtain versus the College Gamers. I have several friends that I keep in contact with in the UGA collectors realm. There's only a few REAL collectores. UGA-1 is one of them. Great Guy. Do you have any UT pieces. Would love to see some. Gonna be a good season this year in the SEC.

Hello UT and UGA, my fellow SEC comrades. Very nice stuff you have there Georgia. I have a room with all kinds of Bama stuff. I will try and take some pics. Right now I have the following Helmets that are Game Used: Ingram Freshmen Helmet, Julio Jones Junior Helmet, Rolando McClain Helmet, Javier Arenas helmet, and my newest addition....Trent Richardsons Helmet from last year and the A-Game a few weeks ago. I find the jerseys of the stars are much tougher to find. I have Arenas, Glen Coffee, Andre Smith, Antoine Caldwell gamers that show quite a bit of use but the big stars like Ingram and Julio are almost impossible to find. You are right about the college stuff being MUCH TOUGHER to collect than the NFL stuff. Can't wait until the season starts...I know Bama will have a few issues on offense but returning 10 of 11 starters on defense including 2 Senior Captains in Barron and Hightower can't hurt.

UGA,

Right now the only college items used items I have are two senior bowl jerseys of Robert Ayers and Arron Sears. I would like to get more college items, but from what I can tell the athletic department does not let jerseys out at all and I have no contacts to try and obtain the items that do. There is a nice Montario Hardesty gamer on JO, but they want $2k for it. Hopefully once I'm done with college I will actually be able to afford items like that, but for now I'm focused on NFL stuff because it's all that I can afford on a college budget lol.

I am looking forward towards this season, but I am also quite nervous. We are going to have a high number of true freshman starters, but we've competed in the past few years with a lot of freshman so who knows what will happen. No matter what it will still be a another great season of SEC football!

It's not a JO gamer, I got it directly from Hines Ward. He let me take a picture of him holding the jersey with a post-it note that says to me. He also signed a personal COA that has a picture of him holding the jersey stating its authenticity etc. I also photo-matched it 3x's on my website mypenscollection.com (Under the Steelers Game Used Section).

Well said. That is simply an awesome nook you have there, my friend! I have dreams of one day having our own home (instead of a rental) and having a Penn State den. (SIGH), to dream...

I would love to see more detailed close up shots of those UGA helmets, and which players they are. Are they all game worn? You are lucky UGA are very generous with their selling their game used gear. I wish Penn State would take a Que from them. Only two pair of cleats I own are actually Penn State worn, the rest (including all of my gamer jerseys) are all former PSU player's NFL items.

First, I want to say thanks to all who contacted me after my recent robbery story. I appreciate all of your comments. If I didn't get back to you, I apologize. It's been a roller coaster ride to say the least.

I am not quite done with my man room (man cave) but I made a few more additions. I still have a Jerry Rice jersey to get framed for the wall that has the bats leaning. I also ordered a 3-bat rack to place underneath the Favre jersey.

Also, someone on the forum (jlind, I think) had asked about Bruce Hurst Red Sox items. The framed Red Sox jersey is Hurst's from the 1987 season. I bought it several years ago, possibly from a forum member, and was very excited when I came across an '88 Donruss card that showed him possibly wearing the jersey. The 75th anniversary of Fenway Park patch is visible on the card and I'm not sure how many jerseys would have been issued to a pitcher that year.

Anyway, thanks again to all. It is appreciated. Enough of that... here are the pics...

Thanks to all of you that have posted pictures of your mancave's...you have inspired me!

I completed the cave, but I have only decorated my office...I hope you enjoy. I decorated the office in a way that when I get sick of what is on display, I can easily change everything. The theme for this month is current players...

The items that you see are all game used. Some of the items are mine from my playing days and the remaining items are from some of my friends or favorite kickers/punters. I teach punting and kicking to high school, college, and NFL hopefulls so you will see a theme with my collection...its all punters/kickers. I bring jerseys to my camps so that the kids can learn about some of the greats of the game that play their position.

Just in case you are interested, the current inventory of the room is as follows...
-Robbie Gould's throwback from last year
-Adam Vinatieri's Colts jersey from 2007
-Shane Lechler's Raiders jersey with the AFL Patch
-Ryan Longwell's Vikings jersey with the 50th Anniversary Patch
-Eddie Murray's jersey and pants from 1981-82
-Jason Hanson's jersey and pants with the Lions 75th Season Patch
-Eddie Murray's cleats
-John Kasey's cleats
-Mick Nugent's cleats
-Jan Stenerud's shoulder pads.
-Autographed photos of Ray Guy and Jan Stenerud
-My helmets, and Gator Bowl jersey (my favorite piece in the room)

The closet contains another 150 jerseys and pants. The top section is for current players and the bottom section is for jerseys of guys that have retired. I am always looking for new punting and kicking items to add to the collection. Please let me know if you have anything that you feel would look great in my office. Hope you enjoy...

The one side is nailed in. The side inside the office has 8 small screws that go through the moulding which is holding the glass in. I didn't know how it would turn out because of the size, but I think it came out pretty good.

Chris, what an awesome display! I was a collecting mess for a while, not sure how to focus my collection. But after joining the forum and reading about your focus as well as others, I decided to just do former MSU players and my favorite team, TB Bucs. Hopefully we will be moving from our condo in to a house and I can have something similar to all the great rooms on here!

I think it depends upon the lady. My brother's g/f for example totally loves football, so there's no problem. But his last one couldn't have cared less about sports. Just find one who either likes memorabilia or who doesn't care either way. :)

Not quite done with the room yet but this wall is finished. 117 Mariners bats on the wall. The picture doesn’t do the wall color justice. My girlfriend took her Mariners alternate teal jersey to the hardware store and had them custom match the jersey and the 2x4’s are pretty close to the color of the Mariners batting helmets. 50432

Those are available actually!!! ;)

They are made to go on 'pillars' or a corner wall. The doors open on either side and they wrap around the pillar or corner. The backs only have glass on the top part and the bottoms are open. The have adjustable glass shelves and glass sides and topps.

The jersey cases are the QVC Black Large Display Cases offered by Penzolli/Savage out of Sturgis, Michigan. They are 31 x 41 x 2.25. The cases run about $140 through their Ebay store, or $225 retail through them directly. I highly recommend using their Ebay store. Shipping is a bit high at $45-$50, but the cases look so nice it makes the price worth it. They are locking as well, which I like. Their phone number is 269.651.8124.

Thank you to all for the kind words about my room. It is truly a labor of love! Thanks again, JP.

So this room, which is my office in the new home, is still a work in progress.

I have recently purchased four new game worn helmets that I have to find room for, plus three game worn jerseys I need framed as well.

Items on the bookshelf:
-The top items are retail, a Steelers SB XLIII mini helmet signed by Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall in person.
-Shippensburg University cap signed by Super Bowl Champion and Pro Bowler John Kuhn.
-Steelers alternate yellow mini helmet signed by Jack Lambert and Ryan Clark in person.
-Steelers custom retail authentic helmet signed by Troy Polamalu, Jerome Bettis, Hines Ward and James Harrison in person.
-Deon Butler signed PSU mini autographed at Seahawks training camp.
-NAVY game worn helmet bought from the academy.
-Deon Butler game worn signed BCA cleats from NFL Auctions.
-PSU game worn helmet from the University.
-PSU game worn helmet.
-Seahawks game worn helmet worn by Devin Moore, bought from the team.

2nd photo:
-Raiders AFC Champions picture signed by Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, Charlie Garner, Tyrone Wheatley, Charles Woodson and SeBass autographed in person.
-Raiders Jerry Rice and Charles Woodson signed calender photos autographed in person.
-Raiders Jerry Rice photo plaque signed in person.
-PSU Joe PA signed game worn helmet from the University, acquired in a trade with a friend.

Here is the last 5 weeks in the making. Fully blown Bears Man Cave, complete w/ 4 gaming systems, theater surround sound (built in), Custom built entertainment/display system w/ 55" HDTV. All new electric & lighting, and the rest of the works.

I did this entirely myself. Every screw, stud, drywall sheet, brush stroke, etc. I have stuck some before and after shots so you can see the fun it in all. Mind you, that from start to finish (minus the memorabilia) w/ everything included, I did this myself all for under $4000!

The only thing missing is the rest of the jersey displays along the blank wall, and new carpet, but those are coming soon.

Enjoy.

Enjoy.

.

Very very NICE!! Perfect way to display your collection. A+, one of the best I've seen on here!

I had my ACC/SEC and growing NFL helmets in my office on shelves. I brought them home 1st part of this year and had shelves built in a room on the 2nd floor. Turned out very nice and accessible. The first pictures are the "before."

The ones in the corner are signed helmets...1st one signed by Frank Beamer and VA Tech coaches, 2nd one QB Matt Ryan of BC, 3rd one the UNC Coach Butch Davis + players, Jerry Moore App State Coach, VA Cavaliers' Coach Mike London and at bottom cut off Duke's Coach David Cutcliffe.

Thank you John! The 'Bama helmet is #39. And your collection of 26 Alabama helmets is amazing! My 'alma mater' is NC State and I have four from that school and chasing a new red base one with the white block 'S" letters and stripes they brought back and wore in two games last season. They also wore these in the April 2012 Spring game.

Also - "eximofab" - your Toronto Maple Leafs' collection..."WOW" and very nice! I would love to know your secret of having that many mannequins to display those jerseys. I have one and that was a huge negotiation with my bride!

Hi guys, been lurking and admiring for a while; just adding a few pictures of my Mississippi State room now that I have everything hung up. I have just a few game-used items (posting those on the Show Us Your College Items thread). Most of my collection is comprised of older items (I'm an MSU history buff) like pennants, programs, newspapers, basically anything I can find, since there isn't a whole lot of Mississippi State stuff out there...

56214
56215
56216

Two of my favorite sort-of game used items:
1. a collage of all my basketball ticket stubs from when I was a student (2003-2008) - included an SEC Championship, 3 SEC West Titles, 3 NCAA and an NIT Appearance. I'm a big basketball fan.

56217

2. Some bleacher wood removed from the football stadium in the 1970s. An old family friend passed this down and I turned it into the tops of a computer desk, a bench, and our foyer table. You can see the seat numbers etched into the wood. These are my favorite pieces - they're just so unique.

56218

Also, thanks to hiramman for a decent portion of my collection (including the jersey seen above)

That desk and bench you made of the old stadium bleachers are simply awesome! What a cool way to practically display such a unique keepsake like that. I also like the Dwight K. Schrute bobble-head. Oh back when The Office was funny...

Hey ncbadges,

I won this off of CBS Auctions. They represent a ton of NCAA schools and honestly 1/2 the college helmets I own have been won off of there. I actually won this helmet at the beginning of the month. The school offered four helmets, and allowed you to request how the coach assigned to the helmet you won would personalized it to you. I have attached some better photos of the helmet signed by Defensive Coordinator Brian Mitchell.

@Tom, thanks for the compliments as always!

Thanks for the compliments gadsden86! Yeah I love Clark also, really nice guy. The helmet in the case under the signed collage was also signed by him, Jordan Norwood and Deon Butler. The SI I have on the wall beside it with Daryll on the cover is signed too.

There is a guy in Harrisburg that runs a shop that know his family personally (I verified this from an Alum buddy of mine) and he has several worn cleats by Daryll that he also signed. If you are interested let me know and I can get you his information.

Yes, it's the baseball right below the tagging of ARod 1995 ST Jersey, bought from Rob L. I am hoping if I click the image of the GS ball, a popup will show additional information about the ball.

Thanks Tony for the compliment.

I would appreciate if anyone can advise me on putting up plexiglass on the book shelves to minimize dusting and childproofing the area.

The shelves are adjustable/removable except for the second to the bottom shelf, the level at where the cleats are. So I was thinking of two plexiglass cut to size for each shelf, top is 3/5 the height and bottom 2/5 of height. Would that be the best solution instead of one large piece for each shelf? I would really appreciate advise on this.

Joel, I used the plexiglass route on my bookcases and it turned out great. I am sure others have tried something a little different, but I just picked up some Velcro and cut it to fit a few different places on my bookcase and attach the other side on the plexiglass. This has kept dust and pet hair out and is easy to take off and put back on at anytime.

OK, let's try this again...

My Murphy Wall... Not a game jersey, but I wore it to the Braves Fantasy Camp reunion in Atlanta last April and he signed it for me right on my back!

The bat is from an '82 Braves reunion... the bat was specially made for attendees, which is why my name is on it. The bat is signed by Murph, Phil Niekro, Bruce Benedict, Gene Garber, and Bob Horner.

The ball is from the Braves camp... Murph and I played catch between innings with it, and I had him sign it for me after the day's games.

I have a David Nelson pro-day used Nike Dri-fit shirt signed. I also have a pair of Justin Williams game used Nike Pro Combat cleats signed.

Another unique item I picked up was Chris Rainey's 2008 SEC Championship Game Watch. It's a Fossil, and he signed the box the watch came in.

Just need more room!!! I'm a teacher so I don't make a lot of money!

Beautiful wall case Nick... now you can never move... haa...

I'm actually in process of remodeling the basement... would love to put one of these in. We'll see what the wife thinks.

Looks great.

Very well done Nick. Very classy and simple in design. I especially like the display of the bats, including the split bat.

What is the full uniform on the full manniquin? Minor League?

Nicely done! If you don't mind, what's a ballpark figure on the cost of building this display?

Thanks, everyone.
The uniform on the full mannequin is a Negro League "Milwaukee Bears" worn in 2009.

Hey Nick,
That's a great display! How much did that set you back?

Nick, that is an amazing display. I hope Ryan Braun sees pictures of your display.

Do you plan on adding any more pieces of his in the future?
