ebay 390226841551: Missing logo not an automatic flaw.

Although I could find no photos on Getty of the Bill Goldberg Falcons Throwback jersey in the above eBay auction, I noticed that the Goldberg shirt did NOT have an NFL logo at the front of the collar, even though those were first used in 1991 and this jersey was a 1994.

However, I did peruse photos from the 9/25/94 game in which Atlanta wore these jerseys. While some players' shirts did have the NFL neck logo, Getty #356750 shows a great front view of WR Andre Rison...with no NFL logo.

I'd love to see a photo of Goldberg from the game to know for sure on this item. However, the Rison photo proves that the Atlanta Throwbacks from '94 weren't consistent in their use of the NFL neck logo.

He made his real mark in World Championship Wrestling aka WCW. His year in the WWR was a bit of a joke.

I was emailed about this jersey and I was told all the TBTC jerseys from this game should not have the NFL shield. I don't know why some players had it unless they were wearing the wrong jerseys back in 1994.

If you look at the 49ers jerseys from 1994 there are many games where some players have the shield and many do not. This pertains to everyone including Rice, Young etc. I have a Rickey Jackson shirt worn against the Vikings which has the shield but nearly all of the other shirts in that game do not. I also have 2 Watters shirts one with and one without the shield, both with team letters. It seems that it is quite random when and which shirt had or did not have the NFL shield that season.

Confirming Dave Meidema's original post, some of the Atlanta Falcons "Throwback Jerseys" worn in 1994 had the NFL neck shield, some did not. The Falcons wore the red throwback jerseys in the Hall-0f-Fame game against San Diego on July 30 and again on September 18 (Week 3) at home against Kansas City. They wore the white throwback jerseys the following week (September 25) at Washington.

There are photos at Getty Images from the Washington game as Dave pointed out where the NFL neck shield can be seen on some jerseys but not on others. In looking through the Falcons 1995 yearbook, video from the Hall-of-Fame game, and other resources, the same holds true for the red jerseys.

Interestingly, it appears that a majority of the red jerseys I viewed sported the logo while a majority of the white jerseys did not. Having said that, I have a red throwback in my collection without the neck logo (worn in the San Diego game by a player who was cut before the season started), and a white team-issued jersey of Jeff George with the logo.
