In a lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ ... Kareem claims The Upper Deck Company plastered 6 Kareem pics from his days as a UCLAhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.tmz.com/2010/08/30/kareem-abdul-jabbar-trading-cards-basketball-ucla-upper-deck-lawsuit/#) Bruin on its "Greats of the Game" series.

Kareem ... who is the NBA's all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points ... claims Upper Deck had the audacity to market the cards after he turned them down flat.

The lawsuit, filed by legal pit bull Marty Singer, notes that when Kareem left the NBA, he blocked more shots, won more Most Valuable Player awards, played in more All-Starhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.tmz.com/2010/08/30/kareem-abdul-jabbar-trading-cards-basketball-ucla-upper-deck-lawsuit/#) Games and logged more seasons than any other player. Shockingly, Singer makes no mention of Kareem's epic performance in the greatest movie of all time -- "Airplane!"

The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages.

What year were these cards produced?

2010?

But why would there be an autograph card in the set if Kareem turned UD down?

No biggie! What's really bothersome (to me at least) is I've seen UCLA throwback jerseys with Abdul-Jabbar on the back. If you're going to make a throwback at least try to be historically correct and use Alcindor even though that's not his name anymore.

Well it make a difference if you are looking at the bargain bins at best buys and come across it.

Did they even have name on the Jersey back then. I doubt it. I hate throwbacks of Ruth and Clemente for that reason. I like jersey that have that same look as back in the days. Historically correct. Not.

Yeah just because the Yankees don't use names. Now if your last name was Rodriguez that's a whole different story! Anyhow, you are correct. UCLA didn't have names on their jerseys back in the late 1960s.

I guess the company's who make these throwback jerseys figure the names on the back of these classic jerseys have to distinguish them from the other #3, #21 or #33 who might have wore them too.

but as you know, a pinstripe 3 is only ruth, a pirates uniform with 21 is only clemente, ucla basketball jersey with 33 is only lew alcinder. i guess its all in the marketing to the casual fans. personally i like the subtlety of the jerseys with no nameplates.

Was Bruce shopping a shoe deal? I could have sworn he was rockin' Adidas in the the Youtube video of the same movie. Asics Tiger?

Stand corrected...crouching Adidas, hidden Tiger.

Actually, I'm still not sure. Looks like Adidas converted to looks like Tigers:confused: Remember how NFL players would wear another brand then "draw" their sponsor's logo over their tape job, so it would be visible?

according to this article this the shoes.

Darren Julien (L), president and CEO of Julien's Auctions and Ambrose So (R), chairman of Ponte 16 display the late actor Bruce Lee's yellow Adidas shoes that he wore in the film 'Game Of Death', filmed in 1972 and released in 1978, at a media preview of pop memorabilia in Macau on August 18, 2010

I found the listing for the shoes. They explain off the white bumper with putting yellow electrical tape on that area during filming.

Does the listing explain the overlay of the asics logo?

So, two sailors are sitting in a bar and a mermaid with a parrot on her shoulder comes in...
In other jokes...some place called Julian's Auctions have the Adidas worn by Bruce Lee in "Game of Death" for sale.

Bruce Lee passed away before the filming of "Game of Death" was completed. A body double was used to replace Bruce and shoot the remaining scenes. It seems that Bruce wore Asics Tiger, while his stunt/body double wore Adidas.
So, Julian's Adidas at auction are at best, stunt double worn. Crazy stuff:

Check the youtube of final scenes from "Game of Death". It is beyond obvious that it's not Bruce in the Adidas...

that kinda makes sense since the auction house are also selling his yellow jumpsuit but are saying its from the body double. I was thinking bruce lee didnt need any stunt double again Kareem but filming the remaining scenes explain the shoes. so basically these were not worn by Bruce Lee but by the body double.

they should probably change the description on the shoes, but at least we know the shoes aren't a complete waste of money.

I believe the Adidas worn by the double are suede whereas the Adidas at auction are canvas. Also, those huge, white eyelets on the auction Adidas look wrong. I don't think they were even worn by the double.

Is that Bruce or the double? Hard to tell in the rain...
I feel like these Adidas are a suede model.
