I picked up one of Lou Brock's cleats from the Legendary Auction in the spring...I'm trying to figure out when in the 60's he wore them. They do not have any manufacturer tagging, but I'm guessing they were made by Wilson from other research I've done. The cleat layout seems to be unique to any other I've seen from the same era and appear to be custom. They match the tread pattern of his Converse sneakers he endorsed and designed (around 1969-70). I've found a newswire pic from 1970 that clearly shows the traditional cleat layout and his 1968 Topps World Series card (showing a batting picture of him from the '67 WS) shows a matching heel pattern (but not clearly). Anyone have any idea? Any info would help. Here's a link to the auction page http://legendaryauctions.com/LotDetail.aspx?lotid=108311&searchby=0&searchvalue=None&page=0&sortby=0&displayby=2&lotsperpage=100&category=100

Thanks,

Alex

Nice item by the way. I would look into World Series videos.

you can check style match with the Sport Illustrated cover from the 1967 WS.

I wonder if you have the cleats he wore in that famous photo of him being tagged at home by Freehan in the '68 WS

I've covered all the pictures on Getty Images and what comes up on Google and it's all inconclusive...the images just don't show enough detail at that size and resolution...however they, might be from a period from the early 70's when he wore black instead of red cleats. Any cleat experts out there?
