Extra mileage of A's unies in spring training

Normally, in the 1960 and '70s, teams would use the previous season's jerseys in a given years spring training. The Kansas City/Oakland Athletics didn't stop at one spring for some of their styles.

As usual , requesting help with photos from the more computer affluent on the Forum, here's two examples:

The 1962 A's home white and road grey vest flannels, with not a trace of grenn nor gold in them, were also worn in 1964 spring training. Evidence: 1964 Topps Giants cards of Jim Gentile and Rocky Colavito, both of whom were traded to KC in the 1963-64 offseason.

The 1968 Oakland vests, worn just one year during the regular season, were used in spring camp through 1971, with evidence shown in a 1971 spring photo of Bob Locker on a '72 Topps card. Locker's first spring with Oakland was in 1971, and evidence on another card in the same set (1972 high number "traded" card of Denny McLain) shows the A's using newer unies in '72 camp.

        Dave,
Here's one shot take in 72 of McLain sporting a 68 vest and one taken in 74 of Reggie and company sporting vests.
        My best

          Steve:

Those 2 wirephotos you posted are MOST appreciated. Intersting that McLain is in the 1968 jersey on the one, considering he is wearing the newer vest style on his Topps 1972 high number traded card.

I have several photos of extensively recycled 70s era A's jerseys. Will post this evening.

            Thanks
