I'm sure there's some light but definite use that has simply been missed.

Are you saying its game used?

No, I'm saying that has to be one of the most honest auction descriptions you'll see. Guarantee you that shirt will show up again, being advertised as a gamer. Either with light use (because Jack was such a passive player) or with some added use.

I agree, props to the seller.

Should I be as shocked as I am that it sold for $1200?

I debated spending almost $400 on a 1996 Ray Lewis retail jersey because they're impossible to find. This is an even rarer jersey from 1982, but $1200 is a lot of money!

Another vintage Lambert jersey just ended on ebay tonight for $587.

I remembered a few months ago when the other one was on ebay and it ended for $1200. I dont see much difference other than road vs home. And the more expensive one had the 82 swatch. But such a big difference in price i was wondering if i was missing something? Does the price fluctuate that much on these?

Thats extremely high in my opinion for a retail jersey....however given that it's the Steelers and it's about as close to a vintage gamer as you're going to find for under the price of a new car, nothing surprises me. I posted this a couple years ago, but the Steelers store were selling new/old stock durene jerseys with the 'designed exclusively tag' on them and you could have any name or number you wanted sewn on it. That's since been changed and you are now only allowed to have current roster players names and numbers sewn on the jerseys.

M&N charges about $300 for one of their Steelers throwback jerseys and their quality and accuracy has only gone downhill since the first ones. The early M&N Steelers will sometimes show up on eBay and can fetch pretty good money for a retail jersey.

Like Utopian says, this is about as nice a retail Steelers Lambert as one can find. The older (nicer) M&N Lamberts had short sleeves.

Is it easy to spot the earlier Steelers durene M&N jerseys while sifting through all the fakes? I mean i know the fonts are off on alot of the fake M&N stuff that comes from overseas, but comparing even the newer authentic polyester M&N jerseys with the older M&N durenes is there an easy way to spot the older M&N stuff on ebay?

First weed out the simply ridiculous. Franco tag on Bettis jersey. Looks terrible.

Turrible...as Charles would say.

Then it's just trying to find good pics of the jersey (front & back) and tags. It can still be tough. M&N no longer makes the Bradshaw, so I think all those are the older style and price usually reflects that. And this is the first year for Swann, so if it doesn't look like the ones on the M&N site, I'd stay away.

But I don't think the ones currently up on M&N look very good (accuracy).

I picked up a black Bradshaw years ago for $175 simply because the numbers were stained. I made it into a Swann for a buddy, so the numbers were coming off anyway. They're nice, but still pretty spendy for a bar/stadium jersey

i wonder if tagged jerseys were being sold at stores in the early 80's? I know it pre-dates me a few years....but I don't recall tagged jerseys being available for sale at retail stores. Anyone have any insight into this? As Otis said, this is about as honest an auction listing you will see and any time a tagged Steelers jersey is floating around I feel like it re-appears with a changed identity.
