A few months ago I picked up an interesting Detroit bat from someone who said he was the bat's original collector--given to him at the park after it was used in batting practice and/or game. It seems to be a 1973-75 H&B R43XL 34.5" bat with Reggie Sanders' script on barrel. The first collector said he hadn't cleaned it, but the bat is very clean with no significant markings except for an "11" on knob. The number is also outlined in pencil or ink. Sanders played in 26 games with the big club in 1974 and that's it. Sanders and Freehan were both righties and the bat is cracked on the side where it likely would be had the bat been swung by a righty with label facing down. I'm having trouble finding pics of Freehan bat knobs to compare the knob marking style. Any help?
