currently listed at american memorabilia is a helmet that ami's "100% authentic team" has determined to be charlie garner's gamer worn during his 2000 pro bowl season with the niners. given garner was only selected to one pro bowl during his career, there's little mystery as to why ami and/or the consignor would want to attribute this helmet to that particular year.
i noticed that ami still seems to make it a point to to mention the "100% authentic team" on most (all?) of their lot pages which of course suggests that their authenticators are checking out each item. however i think it's somewhat unclear who actually comprises ami's "100% authentic team" these days, just as i think it's somewhat unclear who is actually doing ami's authentication work.
anyway, the garner "gamer" seems to have quite a few problems going for it - the photo on the left is the listed helmet, the photo in the middle is from garner's last game of the 2000 season and the photo on the right is a shot of garner from early in the 2000 season. note the highpoint chinstrap position and mounting hardware...
