Dual-Branded Aaron 1976 Bat in GF

Another dual-branded H & B (Bicentennial Logo w/ Powerized) bat has shown up in the current Grey Flannel auction Lot 341.

For anyone wishing to bid on this item, be sure you understand what you are bidding on. Although there is no consensus on the origin of these bats, not one has surfaced in the last 34 years with any legitimate game use, while at least one has been seen with 'manufactured' game use.

This bat is described in the Lot Title as a "Game Bat," which may lead one to believe that it was manufactured in 1976 for the personal professional use of Hank Aaron, and that it was used by Aaron in a Major League game. While the bat does come with a PSA/DNA LOA, the bat is described therein as a 'professional model bat,' and does not describe any 'game use,' which is consistent with John Taube's recollection that he has never seen one of these bats with any game use on it.

Here is some additional information to consider if you are wondering how wide to open your wallet.

Also, if you are a MEARS member, there is an additional in-depth study of these bats, researched by Dave Grob, in the archived news section of the MEARS site.
