Pat Burns, at age 58, has lost his battle with cancer. Burns coached the New Jersey Devils to the 2003 Stanley Cup.

The "for real" notation in the headline is because, roughly two months ago, rumors were being passed around that he had died. Still alive at the time, Burns contacted the media to let the world know that he was still hangin' in there.

RIP, coach.

A real competitor and great coach! A big thumbs down to the Hockey Hall of Fame for not inducting him before he died ! He will get in eventually but why do we have to celebrate great people only after they die! 3 time coach of the year with 3 different teams and a stanley cup! A REAL SHAME !

Did anyone see on the news that someone broke into his wife's car and stole his jersey collection? I don't know if they were GU or who they were of, the article said they were autographed though. A very sad story he was a great coach it is a shame his career and life were cut short and for someone to steal his stuff is just horrible. The police believe it was not a random theft because his wife's wallet was found intact in the car.
