We in SD have been waiting for a trade to happen. Wish it would have happened last year when we could've gotten MLB talent. Oh well. He's gonna do nothing but pepper the monster.

Wonder what my Green Padres GU helmet is worth now?

Not a done deal yet.

Now a dormant deal, at least for a short time. MLB.com reported that A-Gon and the Red Sox couldn't come to an agreement on a contract extension in the time allowed by MLB.

Deal on, again, as FoxSports reports that a longer negotiations window for A-Gon's contract extension has been OK'd by MLB. Previous negotiations found that Gonzalez wanted more money than the Bosox were offering.

This deal will get done. They are at the point of no return. Why would Gonzalez want to go back to Pads and be a lame duck? Plus there is the risk he gets major injury and hence cant get the deal he could get now and next winter he possibly has to compete with Pujols and Prince Fielder.

The Red Sox have agreed on a deal to acquire San Diego slugger Adrian Gonzalez, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com, who adds that a press conference is expected to be held Monday to officially announce the trade. It isn't know who will be heading to the Padres in return, but multiple reports over the weekend indicated that Casey Kelly, Reymond Fuentes, and Anthony Rizzo will be dealt to San Diego. In addition, Heyman reports that the Red Sox will add about "seven years at about $23 million per" to Gonzalez's $6 million salary for 2011, but he adds that "no extension will be announced yet." (WEEI.com's Alex Speier says that it's the prudent thing for the Sox to wait on announcing any extension because of possible luxury tax implications (http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2010/12/05/extension-can-wait-why-adrian-gonzalez-extension-might-not-make-sense-right-now/).)

Since the Red Sox will shed about 50 million in payroll next year and they will not be too much over the cap this year lets add Carl Crawford :D
