My guess is $2,000 plus easy on ebay, then into Mastro or REA for $4,000-$5,000.

I agree that this is a pretty cool item. What makes you think it will / should go for $2 - 5K though? This seems to me to be a relatively unique item. Is there some point of reference you're going by?

The only other major league trophy bat I have seen from the deadball era is Buck Weaver's for winning the 1913 batting title.

I'm not sure what it sold for, but the minimum to bid on that bat in 2000 was 9,000. Of course Buck Weaver is a bigger name than Buck Herzog, but I would bet that the Herzog bat would easily get $5,000 in a Mastro/REA type auction. I won't even be surprised if it gets that on the current ebay auction.

What I don't understand is how it is Buck Herzog got a trophy bat which congratulated him on "Having the Greatest Number of Stolen Bases During Season 1914" when he didn't have the greatest number of stolen bases in 1914.

Buck Herzog of the Reds had 46, but George Burns of the NY Giants had 62.
The Reds & Giants were both in the NL, too, so it's not like he got this bat for leading his particular league.

So I don't understand that, but it's still a cool bat. If you go after it, I wish you luck.

Maybe it was for having the most on the Reds. It is quite a work of craftsmanship. It will be interesting to see what it does. It all depends on who has found it really.

It sold for $6,769. I bet the ebay seller is peeing their pants right now as the reserve they had on it was $300.

No doubt. Zane Burns was the high bidder with Troy Kinuned right behind him. I'm surprised Zane was after this so heavy.
