Hey all,

Does any one know what type of bats Robin Venture used while with the White Sox and Mets?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Glen

I know this is not the team you were inquiring about but i hope it helps. Robin Ventura used a lot of Louisville Sluggers when he was with the Yankees. It is possible that is his bat of choice and would assume he probably stodd with that when he was with other teams, but anything is possible. He could have used totally different bats.

First of all good price for the bat. I have two of Ventura's bats with the Mets. A Dark brown Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick "ROBIN VENTURA" in block lettering "Mets" under name where yours say "pro". There are two series of numbers on the butt which I can barely make out"683B"?above "0040?" The other is a black L/S T141 name in script with New York Mets below. Can't make out anything on butt because it's worn. Both bats have tape near the bottom handle for some support leading to the butt end. I've heard Ventura used two types of bats(heavy or light)depending on the pitcher. Corbis shows him with another two-tone bat. I pay attention to Ventura stuff and he didn't appear to mind using different bats.

In the thread on "nickname bats" I posted a photo of a 2000 Ventura "Stumpy" bat. It's a model P72 33" bat shorter than his normal length bats. I've seen T141, P72 Ventura bats from when he was with the Mets.

I don't have the bat in my possesion yet but here is what he say's is stamped on the bottom.

I am looking at the knob of the bat and I see that it has this stamped on the knob...........R.V.23..........then under that it has417 03....I'm not postive about the 3 but thats what it looks like. the number 21 has been hand written on the knob and is covering what I think is the 3.

Robin played for the Dodgers and Yankees in 2003. He wore no. 23 for the Dodgers so the RV23 Model number sounds right. The 03 definitely tells us your bat was from the 2003 season. Robin wore no. 19 while w/ the Yankees during the 2003 season. During the 2003 season the no. 21 does not match the uniform numbers Robin wore for the Dodger or the Yankees.

So you think the bat is good just some other player wrote their number on it and used it?

Thanks for the help by the way.

Only because the no. does not match for that year 2003.

Here's a link to the Robin Ventura page in the baseball almanac.

The only year Ventura wore 21 was his rookie year in 89. I was hoping he did a Rickey Henderson and wore his rookie no. his last season in the majors but according to this he got "23" back in 2004.

Hope this helps.

Look at this picture. I wonder if it was his bat (See the bat he is holding in the picture) And then taken by teammate (Burnitz) who batted before him.

Glenn,

Anythings possible. Players use other players bats all the time. In any case judging from the photos of the Ventura you purchase it looks like you got a nice bat w/ great use regardless.
