    Your Rarest bat

I just sold a bat I really didn't want to sell, but I consoled myself by saying that I could get another one down the road... Got me thinking, what bat do I have that I would never be able to replace...

    What is my rarest bat??

If your collection was destroyed, what bat is irreplaceable?

And I'm not talking about a Pujols, or Tony Gwynn Rookie... I mean something that you are pretty sure you have the only one in existance?

    What is your rarest bat?

Mine is my 1934 Woodley Abernathy bat

The bat is from 1934-35 when Abernathy played for the Baltimore Orioles in the International League... He was the Ineternational League HR King in 1934 and 1936

Pretty sure this bat could never be replaced

Although there may be a few floating around, I bought a Carlos Ruiz 2009 World Series bat this year at Citizen's Bank Park -- MLB hologram does not show up in database.

It would have to be my Adam Dunn 2010 game used 3 HR game bat, used for all 3 HR's and 2 more afterwards. It's his only 3 HR game.

Probably this non-contract BLOCK letter H&B bat (bottom) of Cal Ripken Sr. which dates to the 1950-1960 labeling period is my rarest....I got it from a guy who worked with Cal Sr. during the winter months back during that time period...

Mine is probably my 1933-34 H&B Dick Bartell bat. There might be others out there from this time frame but I've never seen any. Always have to give a shout to Tim Byington for helping me add this one to my collection!!

My rarest bat would have to be my 1974 Bill Buckner World Series bat. H&B experimented with a larger center label and larger Powerized for the series to help advertise the brand. MLB outlawed the larger labels after the series. Only 2 bats were made for Buckner and I'd like to see another 74 WS bat to compare the labels.

Although this is not the most expensive bat in my collection-I doubt that there are many of these out there so I would consider it probably my rarest. A 1944-48 Lou Gehrig pro model bat signed at a ball game by Cal Ripken.

This is such a beautiful bat in my opinion. As BMH tells it, Manny wanted to fool around with an I13 for the first time in many years, so he had a couple reps drive out to Cincy in Aug '09 and give Manny what he wanted. He dressed it up, took a couple hacks in BP, and said it was too end heavy. Bat pops out of circulation and into the hands of Manny's posse who later make a deal with Andrew Lang using my ATM card at Nats Park.

I love the larger M9 sticker, the 125th anniversary stamp, and the fact that it says "LOS ANGELES DODGERS" under Manny's name. The two tone gives it a little extra pop and highlights the fresh pine tar. To my knowledge, there hasn't yet been another one of these to surface.

I remember one appearing on ebay. Want to say it was in 2006. It sold for around $275. I was the underbidder. Took me a long time to get over not bidding more.
