Do any collectors own jerseys from this amateur league?

I just got this 1950s dugout jacket from the Wichita Boeing Bombers of the NBC.

BTPH:

Awesome find there!! The National Baseball Congress (NBC) holds its annual tournament here in Wichita (NBC World Series). Find a tourney program and you'll notice an amazing amount of tourney alumni that went on to play in MLB (Satchel Paige, Dave Winfield, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Lance Berkman, Albert Pujols....the list goes on and on and on). In the early 80's, the Hutchinson, Kansas Broncos had an amateur outfield of Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmeiro, and Pete Incaviglia (I think that's right). The year after those three left a fellow by the name of Roger Clemens pitched for Hutch. I have a few items related to more recent teams (Havasu Heat, Santa Barbara Foresters, etc). That Boeing jacket is a solid piece. The local Wichita Sports Hall of Fame has a ton of older and more recent NBC game worn uniforms. If you ever want to part with it, you know who/where to start :) .

I actually played in the NBC World Series on a few local teams. Played against teams that eventually won the tournament. We were merely a warmup/tuneup for their real competition.

I've been collecting NBC items for over 20 years. Boeing won the tournament in back to back years in 54-54. They also won it once in the 40's. I have a scrapbook of Daryl Spencer who played on these teams. I need to check it out and see if I can find a match for the jacket. Boeing also had men's and women's softball teams. Did you get the jacket from someone who played on the baseball team? Here is a jersey that I have a style match of from one of the NBC guides. Great jacket by the way.

I rescued the jacket from the second hand market. It is marked a size 44 and snaps on the right side like a man's jacket. I'd really like to see any photos that you may have of the men's or women's teams. If you have access to any rosters, this jacket has "9" on the sleeve.

Many thanks to you and shirkr for your help and interest.

Thank-you

an addendum to my post:
Is the CHANUTE jersey, flannel with satin sleeves? I've never seen that before.

I actually attended a NBC game in the mid-1980s, while doing a card show in Wichita. I don't remember which teams were involved, but I remember the starting/winning pitcher was a post-MLB career Bill Bonham.

I'll have to do some digging but I think I can get the info. I just looked through some photos and they didn't have jackets on in any of them. I've got the NBC guides from 1937-1960 so I may have to go through quite a few. This may not be from the 54-55 teams it might be earlier or later. Wish I had a date to know where to start. I'll post more tomorrow or this weekend.

The Chanute jersey is flannel with a jean type material for the sleeves. I always thought it resembled the Monarchs jerseys from the 40's era.

Anything you find, would be cool. Please take your time, no hurry. That Boeing photo you posted is nice. The Chanute jersey is a relic.

thanks, a lot.
