Labeling Game used products With a display...

I have thought about doing something like this for a while. I was thinking of labeling game used batting helmet and/or player collections with a professional labeling plate to sit in front of the game used item(s). I want to have more a of sports bar or museum feel to my collection, so anyone who would walk in to see it could identify what the item is.

Below is a link to the concept of my labeling idea....

For example the plate would read "Russell Branyan 2006 Game Used Batting Helmet"

Also, maybe a date of the game the item was used, team name, jersey number, etc.

Really, it would be nice to have a game used lockerroom nameplate of the player, but that is not always available and cost at times can also be $50-$200 for a official locker room name plate. so buying custom plates was an idea I was thinking of...

I remember a good 10 years back, I was putting autographed balls/pucks in display cases with wood panels and a local trophy store would do a nameplate (3 inches x 1 1/2 inch) for about $5 a pop. I know that was a while ago, and in Western New York, but may be worth calling a local trophy store to get a quote as well.

I do like the idea a lot btw.
    Cheers,

I've been thinking about designing a place card - especially for my photomatched, known date, HR bats, unique items, etc. I will probably try to do something smaller that I can print at home or send off to a photo print shop maybe wallet photo size and display on baseball card stands.

There are a couple items, I might go more prominent of a display and get a plate engraved at a trophy shop.

I was planning on doing the same thing with a few items as I purchased some of the before mentioned engraved nameplates. I used Crystal Caseworks and now sitting on a month and a half since my order was placed and still no sign of the plates. I would stay away from them as they do not answer the phone or reply to emails ever.

Would like to see what other options other people have used for their displays.

Yeah, I have been kicking this idea around for a long time. Size of the label is a concern, I don't want it too big or too small. Wondering if anyone else has images of what they have done for labeling too...

I think labeling with a plate would be very helpful on game used pucks, baseballs, footballs, or other regular looking equipment that doesn't pop out with an identifier of when it was used or even what is "special" about the piece.

I work in a hardware store in my town and we have a key engraver that also has the capability of making name plates. I have a few sizes to choose from, this is the only one that I have done at this time but plan on doing more when I’m able to get my man cave the way I want it. If any of you are interested in seeing some of the other styles I have please feel free to email me, I might be able to help you out.Click image for larger version

I do this for my collection, except I don't like to spend anything to make it look all fancy so I just print out what I want displayed and I'll glue it to a different colored background. It's easy, cheap, and still looks nice.
