Hello forum. I have a 1986-89 Robin Yount LS P72 game used bat. It shows nice use with tar, ball seam marks and cleat marks. It has Yount's #19 on the knob. The thing is, this bat is not cupped and is 35 inches in length. I understand that Yount only ordered cupped bats in this time period. But there is an order to the team during this time period. Is there a possibility that Yount used the bat in question? Thanks for your input.

Hi Scott--

You are correct-- the only orders of P72 mosels sent for Yount's personal professional use during this time period were all cupped end bats(P72C),approximately 344 of them...35 inch and 32 ounces...In fact, going back to 1982 there were no uncupped P72 models shipped to him...

In 1986-89 label period, there were also numerous orders of (uncupped) P72 bats in lengths of 34 inches and 35 inches shipped to the Milwaukee Brewers, Anaconda-Kaye, Baseball Miscellaneous, and even the El Paso Diablos....These were ordered with no specified weight, which generally means bats made for some promotional event. All bats, both those shipped to Yount and those shipped elsewgere, were unfinished.

Yount's personal use of this bat would be uncharacteristic of his documented ordering pattern of the period.
